So things are looking up at last. Many of us have had a reality check. I am one of those. Never expected to see us in the bottom 4 for so long. What do I see as being the problem though?
The AT situation was dealt with wrong. They should have got rid of him last season or should have given him a better shot this season. They sacked him after 3 games without a loss. 2 of them games we could easily have won with the chances we had. So he is now gone. Thanks for trying your best AT. Time for us to move forward. First mistake was getting rid of AT so early in the season whilst not having a clue who would take his place.
Moving forward we brought in Shaw. Had to laugh when some fans wanted him to be made our manager whilst having a go at AT and his lack of experience. He was soon showed to be clueless. Putting in players where they couldn't play as a unit. Making half decent players look crap.
We finally got MR. My 3rd choice of manager. The other 2 were never going to come to us with us in the 3rd division and doing so badly. He has got our players together as a unit and playing in positions they can play. Our defenders, midfield and strikers are linking together at last. Players that looked poor are now showing what they can do. Well done MR. Looks the man for the job to me.
Our biggest problem to me has been most teams have two teams they have to play are a big scalp. Sheff Utd and us. They have nothing to lose. They attack whenever they can. We kept sitting back. It was as though if we took the lead we tried defending it. Hopefully this has changed.
McG.....what can I say? Great player for this level. If we can keep him we will go up. If they give him space he will score. If they mark him with 2 or 3 players it gives our other players space to score.
The top clubs are all dropping points. this can be expected as most teams can beat each other. In the last two games we have gone from looking behind us to looking towards the playoffs. We are now only 9 points from 6th and 10 points from 3rd. 5 wins in last 6 games. Portsmouth at home next. They are looking as they will go down again. Sad for their fans, good for football. If that game goes to form we could be looking good for the top half of the table. Just a shame we don't follow to form when it means us winning
Then we have 2 cup games at home followed by Walsall at home. All winnable, but the Sheff Utd game will show us where we are. Then comes the rest of December. No easy games unless we keep winning and the players keep their confidence up. A good December and we will look like promotion favorites. A bad December and I will be looking for a wall to bash my head against.
Where are we holding our promotion celebration bash?
