Phil Babb had some pace as a defender
Was literally just thinking that
Phil Babb had some pace as a defender
I knew Ash when he played for Sphinx, decent lad. He was way above that level even though football was just a hobby for him by this timeUsed to be at the same running club in my youth with Ash Cain, he was in the fastest 2-3 people in the whole of England for his age group. Only ever watched him lose a 100m race once. His body was an absolute machine, it was amazing to watch. His stride mechanics was something I’ll never forget. Bloke was built like a brick shithouse at 14 man. I’d struggle to believe many would be faster than him, he trained for it.
Was a long time back now but even then he was running something like 11.6 secs at 14. Ran with him till he was 16/17 where it might have got down to like 11.2 but then from that point it was football only as he was breaking through to first team. Had he of scored that sitter he missed on his debut vs Barnsley I think things could have been very different for him. He always had such an aura, no shock he became a bit of a celeb but he is pretty incredible at whatever he does

Haha. I forgot about Marsden who couldn’t run but honestly, the visions I have in my mind’s eye of Staunton running in treacle. It can’t be possible to be slower.David Bradford, Chris Marsden, Tony Knapp, John Craven - Staunton and Sansom would leave them all for dead.
I remember my consternation at that squad number assignation. Not right. Some of those Mowbray signings in the 2016 Jan Transfer window...
Peter Ramage, Steven Hunt, Darius Henderson - That transfer window needs to be studied, I don't know whether we went to town on signing experience cause we had a young side or all we could afford was over the hill players on their last payday but all I know is it cost us the season
My slowest player is Nathan Clarke... For those of you who prefer to forget that bleak period in our history, Russell Slade signed him as he'd been his captain at Orient! Milk turned quicker and he sent my OCD into overdrive as as a centre half he was designated squad number 7
In those dark days, at least he cared.Clive platt was rapid
Problem was he was always head down rapid..never head up!!Huckerby fastest attacking City player over 10/20 yds..from what I saw
He was very quick at the time only Des Walker was quicker..oh the levels! Was literally just thinking that
Agree 100% the quickest...When i first saw him it was like literally like how the F are Newcastle letting this lad go!!Quickest I’ve seen, personally, was Darren Huckerby. His acceleration was frightening at times.
That lad had afterburners in his boots.![]()
It must have been the day of an eclipse? This threads got me thinking...why is " Walkers " are the quickest.
Des and Kyle.
Then theres daylight.
Bright?Fastest player ever seen was that lad at Wolves.
Oh the defender who came on, I've got it that young forward no 9?Bright?
I remember Alan Dugdale away at Norwich being exceptionally slow one year.David Bradford, Chris Marsden, Tony Knapp, John Craven - Staunton and Sansom would leave them all for dead.
Peter Ndlovu quickest running with the ball I'd say
Yeah twice around the belly once around the gas worksMicky Quinn was the fastest over one yard - Fact.
End of debate close thread![]()
I think that's probably right.Loan player now Richie partridge?Rudi Kaiser was pretty quick unless my memory is playing tricks.

Needed to keep his fitness levels up. Staying ahead of child support lawyersNdlovu (sic) was quick and delivered, with end product.![]()
Jordan Willis was quick. Made a fair few fuck ups that his pace helped recover.Phil Babb was as quick a centre back I've seen play for us
