I know this forum is about Football but after some said about going to watch Rugby on Saturday if our game is off, just wondered what other sports people on this forum would either go and watch or play?

I play golf, but the only other sport I actually go and watch is horse racing. And that's barely a sport. Going to Cheltenham on paddys day.

I'd rather watch a tramp shit into a wine glass than rugby.

I'd go and watch American Football, but I think it is even more expensive to get the United States than it would be to get to Northampton, so that counts me out.

Coventry Jets in the summer. Though, it's hardly the same standard.

I like watching any football. Watch a bit of non league now and then but work and a 1 year old taking over life at the moment.

Other sports.... I used to go and watch the Bee's when I lived in Coventry, that always a good crack, I try to get to Silverstone for the Moto GP and the F1 as well..

Speedway (probably Coventry's most successful sport) cricket, rugby, moto GP, superbikes, horse racing, the dogs, dragster racing at Santa Pod. Show jumping.

To be honest I'd give anything a go except baseball. Keep meaning to get down and see The Blaze.

The only sports I've been to see other than football in the last year was ice hockey (Blaze vs Belfast) and American football (49ers @ Jaguars), I'd probably go see anything though as sports that don't appeal on TV can often be more fun in person.

I only play football, and I'm stretching the realms of believability with the word play. It's more meanderingly disappoint.

It was probably me yesterday.

I'm by no means an aficionado ,nor understand the nuances or rules entirely ,but It gives me the feeling of being among a Coventry community supporting a professional level team ,thoroughly enjoyable among the pleasant folk of Coventry In coventry.

Totally sporting attitude to both sides regardless of result ,and great aftermatch pint and entertainment under the stands wherer the Players mingle among the fans ,non of that elite /Selective malarky.
Oh and costs a Tenner ,Free If you turn up at halftime ,may even give a discount If you show your old ST for the Football.

To be honest I love most sports and will watch just about anything on the box in terms of sport. Do love the Rugby but never watched a game live, my golfing buddy used to work in Scotland and get corporate tickets for Scotlands Six Nations games at home and he said it was a cracking out with good banter and no bother. He also worked in South Africa occasionally and went to watch the cricket with the Barmy Army, said that was fucking scream too, the lucky bastard.

I'll try and play at least 3 times a week in the summer and at least once a week in winter but this fucking weather has played havoc with us so far this year. You may already know but if you fancy a round on a decent course then log onto teetimes and you can usually get a round at a good course like the Belfry or Forest of Arden for 20 odd quid. I am a member up at Stonebridge and most of the course has been closed for weeks.

love ice hockey, watch blaze a bit although dont love it as much as NHL. its too much of a kiddy lets all have fun despite the results atmosphere for me. takes ages to get out of skydome car park too.

other than that its sport on tv for me, Italian footy,spanish,french,german,prem etc, NFL,
ufc too,seen that live in vegas.

playing wise,i play 5 a side footy 2-3 times a week, also pretty good at tennis i like to think.

I don't think I could stomach UFC in person, I'd be paranoid of seeing what happened to Silva up close. Someone getting punched square in the face makes me squeamish enough, but that, Jesus.

Bit partial to a spot of athletics myself (daughter competes for club which helps), and cricket. Cheltenham on the Wednesday of the festival gets a visit, as does the Epsom Derby (free to get in) and Huntingdon. Other than that, its's just the occasional tug, if you can class that as a sport (which isn't as easy as it used to be now I'm middle aged)!

well when i went, silva knocked out clean some texan

then the texans family who were right behind me started punching police officers, the coppers grabbed one of the texan girls and hog tied her pretty much in her short skirt

Play: Golf, Tennis, Cricket
Watch: Cov Rugby, Cov Blaze, Cov Bees, Horse racing, love Cheltenham, have 2 days booked for the festival this year.
Biggest passion though has always been for CCFC !! Although I do concur with others that the situation is killing it slowly !

Love my cycling, go out every sunday with a few lads. This has replaced football to be honest.

I used to play a lot of Golf and i did TaeKwon-Do for about 7 years but stopped now.

Dont really watch any sports on TV other than Football and cycling or the odd major event in golf (open, Ryder etc)

I love a bit of cycling too....I used to be well into it when I was a young bloke....these days I don't have much time for big rides what with the demands of wife, kids, dog & my own business etc. but I still try & get out every weekend even if its for an hours blast...

I recently had a tester session at the Manchester Velodrome.....great experience once you get over the initial fear of a fixed wheel bike, no brakes & the steepest banked track you've ever seen in your life!! highly recommended!

I've just started doing some turbo sessions in my garage as I need to get fit as me & a couple mates are riding to Yorkshire to watch the tour this summer.

I'm doing it too - but mostly so that I can wear lycra outside the house, legally.

Fwiw, I much preferred my two wheel days when there was a big oily engine in the frame, and I was mostly made of bone and gristle rather than fat and sweat.

Ha ha...I know what you mean....its a massive boom industry these days...and loads of new artisan bike builders appearing in the UK which is great......its just a shame most of those new to the sport have no idea what they need & don't need, head straight to Halfords or Evans & get royally screwed over!

I loved BMX racing when I was a kid.....was better at freestyle street stuff, but the thrill of racing was ace. (My recent trip to the velodrome re-kindled my aggressive cycling streak)

After BMX, I got into Road racing & time trialing when I was about 15 and carried it on until my early 20's when I had a brief fling with downhill mountain biking....which didn't end well!

My old school & cycling mate who never lost his passion then got me back into it when I visited him in france about 6 years back....

They say "cycling is the new golf" and I believe that's true.....I often whizz past a lot of heavy-set chubby blokes of similar age to me....they are usually red-faced, bursting out of hideous branded lycra garb & riding a bike that is about 5 times as expensive as mine....all the gear & no idea !!

Apologies - it's not a pretty sight, I'd agree. At least on my motorbike I could wear a full face helmet!

The frustration is that until my late teens I used to cycle everywhere, school, paper-round, out with mates, the works. Probably 100 miles a week or more. I don't even remember getting out of breath. I can't understand how all of the local hills have suddenly got so much bigger.

On the upside, age has not diminished my football ability, which I still play. I was always crap, and I've comfortably maintained my very low standard. I'm just a bit slower, but without a time-lapse camera (the kind used to show skyscrapers being built etc.) I doubt it's perceivable by the human eye.

Football is number one but like Rugby Union as I've played it and like Boxing a lot too. Golf,Cricket,Snooker,Darts,great to play but to watch is like watching paint dry I reckon.
