So pay a bit too much to Higgs or lose a whole lot more at Sixfields. Tough choice. Is your own business thriving or losing money I wonder.

There are other sports in the uk that attract decent crowds that can play on a pitch... You really have a small town mentality and outlook on life.

At the end of the day, an open letter is as much for the edification of 'us lot on here', the press, the FL etc, as it is for the ACL camp. Serious negotiation doesn't take place via open letters - from whichever direction it comes. Can't be bothered to work out the motives, as I've long given up trting to work out how things will map out - just hope there is some positive movement forthcoming sooner rather than later (as I don't believe anything will be built anytime soon/ever)

Happy to see this. We don't have to be doing any cartwheels just yet and I totally get some people's more negative reactions, but it is a start, and that is always a good place to begin something new.

For anyone that has given Get Cov Back to the Ricoh stick for not protesting publicly against Sisu, or anyone who hasn't, I can tell you now that Stuart, myself and others* have been spending a lot of time recently questioning, pressuring, pleading and generally discussing with Sisu people (inc. Joy Seppala) with things focussed on a Ricoh return, re-engagement with fans & fan groups and not completely losing supporters.

I'm pretty drained from hours & hours on the phone and have a shit load of work to catch up on which has been pushed aside in the last few weeks but I'm happy that something new has happened. It's not a case of 'we did this' or anything like that because there are lots of other people who have been pushing too. We'll all have to keep on pushing to get things done and there's a long way to go yet and of course it could easily hit the buffers and we're back to square one.

But I'm fairly hopeful, if only because we have a big change in the approach of ones of the main protagonists in this saga.

We'll see.

* Stuart and I made a decision early on in our campaign that we would front it publicly so as to allow anyone else to be involved behind the scenes without having to get any grief from some of the more, er, 'forthright' people out there.

Presumably because it was too much. Given that the club is officially worthless now that you've declared it.

That wasn't an offer to buy the club - please do t tell me you are that stupid. Read the offer and there is a word Tony that reveals its not an offer to buy the club.

Regardless of the fact we would have no club by now if they had bought it.

Rob. IMO there shouldn't be any negotiation until ACL's entirely reasonable pre-conditions have been met. SISU I think are trying to paint ACL into a corner by raising the prospect of negotiation without offering to withdraw legal action, and no doubt will paint ACL as baddies if they refuse to meet.

The letter once again makes the tiresome argument of We CCFC needs all matchday revenue" - this ignores:
1) CCFC sold these rights for a fair price, and won't pay this back to secure the revenues. You can't demand/claim revenues as their own when the ground is fairly owned by someone else
2) Tim shook hands on a £400k rent only to be vetoed by Joy - that was the first we heard of the need for the matchday revenues. Provides it is a smokescreen.

What Mr Justice Hickinbottom actually said was:

v) In January 2013 such an investor would have considered it likely that rent would be agreed with CCFC at £400,000 per annum. The Richard Ellis/PWC analysis would have valued valued the lease at £10.8m on that basis; but the private investor would have taken into account that the valuations were made as at March 2011 without the benefit of cost cutting and non-football income exercises that had intervened. He would have considered the value of ACL to be probably less than £14.4m, but probably more than £10.8m.

Source: Approved Judgement Page 39

So as the Higgs said that they were prepared to sell their half for £5.5m it seems to be within the range the judge quoted that a private investor would have valued the whole.

1) SISU didn't sell the rights though... and yes the ground is owned by someone else but do they want a tenant or don't they?
2) It seems Joy was right to veto because if they return it will be on a fraction of that rent.

Isn't the pie and beer money etc less only around £170k a season - shag all compared to the lost income by playing at Sixfield, not to mention the loss of sponsoship on shirts etc, which would be much more attractive (thus can get a higher fee) if we were at the Ricoh playing in front of 1000's more than we do now. I not understand

As I said, it's a start. Lots of scope for negotiation including negotiating what conditions need to apply before negotiations begin. There are no contracts left between ACL & CCFC so time to start working out some new ones. Just talk about it. Why Not?

It is in ACL's best interest to sort out a deal involving match day revenue as getting the club back increases the value of ACL.

Having the club there will give ACL more chance of getting a good deal when the stadium sponsorship is renewed.

They will benefit from the rent, even the shabby offices would get used again. They won't have to pay all the rates either.

Surely there is a deal to be done, hopefully there is still a bit of posturing in the statements that have come out over the last couple of days, and maybe the two sides are willing to give a little on their stated positions.

but long term, they wont be in "either ground", they are building a stadium where they will get as much of the revenues as they want, so this is a short term measure where they will get more income than playing northampton, whats the problem ?

There have been several private meetings in the last 2 weeks with different fans
Tim had said he was talking to the council. this we found out to be untrue.
Tim also said he was talking to ACL this was also untrue.
Won't tell you who he said he was talking to just 3 hours ago but yes it was untrue......

So your right not to do those cartwheels just yet!!!

Need some trust but as of yet nothing....

On second reading, is it just me or is there nothing new in that statement that hasn't been said before?

Is it actually a softening of their position? They still want access to undefined revenues and no details of a willingness to pay for them. Hasn't that always been the sticking point?

It's posturing, but maybe, like the KCIC "offer" it should be seen as a positive, especially bearing in mind other recent events. JR, FL, etc.

(Well, I want to see it that way at least, but it's bloody tough given their history of lies)

Rob, did you ever issue a set of minutes, or at least a summary of your 6 hour meeting with joy?

Might help the credibility of your group if we saw these, and can then judge for ourselves if we see it's had some effect.

Also, when the KCIC "offer" was made, there was a lot of concern on here about who was behind it. People wanted to know who the players were for lots of reasons.

I think the same questions can be asked of you now given you made a point of it in your post. So, who are these other people "behind the scenes" that you and Stuart are hiding/protecting from all of the "forthright" people on here?

Les Reid. It's blatantly Les Reid. In fact, it's so much Les Reid that I expect Rob to reply to this post with some insults and a vague, though ultimately inaccurate, accusation of libel.

The fact that the guy seems to genuinely think that he did this (and that "this" is something new) is both hilarious and a little sad. Played like a fiddle and the song's still going my man.

To be fair to Rob I don't think he's ever hid his friendship with LR. He's even talked about it on here so I would be surprised if LR isn't involved rather than be surprised if he is.

Load of word based sentimental twaddle from Joy and Tim.
Actions define their intentions along with 2 damning judicial review verdicts.
This is just spin and bluster. Match day revenue streams suddenly a priority?....a simple six fields vs Ricoh cash flow analysis on the most basic terms proves their intention yet further still.
I don't buy it.
Bring em home....
I'm going on march again today....
