Only one or two signings at most when embargo lifted (11 Viewers)

Apologies (again) if it's been picked up elsewhere on the board, but I was a bit disconcerted in the post match interview with Geoff Foster, that SP said that although he had wanted 6 to 7 new players, he would be getting one or perhaps two at the most, when the embargo was lifted. Not sure if that position shifts if the bomb squad move on, but was hoping Geoff would follow up for clarification (didn't). Assume SP's had his budget clipped by Otium as a result of Sixfields move. We won't cope with only two more faces IMHO.

Think one thing people are forgetting is the fact of some of our current players either maybe wanting to leave or are being pursued by other clubs, Baker, Christie and Leon Clarke to name but 3.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slighest if gentleman's agreements had already been put in place and the.minute the embargo was lifted that players would be on their way.

It's not going to be embargo over and merely players coming in.

Transfer embargo doesn't stop players leaving/ selling players

No, you're missing my point. We've hung on to them because we can't afford to have them leave without replacing them. We're already down to the bare bones.

As soon as we can bring one or two in you could well find at least 2 going in the opposite direction. Could well be players have only stayed until the embargo is lifted.

Sell the family silver bring in a few loans and the odd player in permanently.

Ok cool I got you, hope you're wrong though. I only see Christie potentially leaving tbh

Christie I think for sure. Concerned that Baker and Clarke could be half inched too though.

I'm sure if we could have brought players in others would have left.

SISU will just keep downsizing. They don't have to recognise the loss on their balance sheet until they relinquish control of the club. They will delay a sale for as long as possible for this reason.

Nick, our club is as good as dead already. The only thing that will stop it taking it's final breath is if we can force sisu to sell in the next few weeks

They won't so get a plan B

Maybe our owners plan B is to get our squad as small as they can so they can send the remaining players out on loan, and guess who too, NT. who are then in turn slowly taking over NT. they then get what they have always wanted, a re-development opportunity. And then finally sell on the name and golden share. CCFC rises like a Phoenix. One can but dream

By killing the club?

SISU claimed they will go to Northampton temporarily & build a stadium. "Short term pain for long term gain" to quote TF from the fans forum on 7th July.

Haven't they seriously miscalculated? Isn't it their decision to do this & isn't that what will kill the club.

You know as well as I do that they could have agreed a deal on a very low rent with ACL this week if they'd have stopped the legal action against the council. Going forward if they'd accepted that position and spent a similar amount of time as it will take to build a new stadium rebuilding trust with ACL they could then have been in a position to acquire a share of the Arena (in say 5 - 7 years). The fact that they won't take that way forward tells me that their real plans are much more short term & I would be surprised if they stay should their application for a judicial review fail.

Going to Northampton puts a cap on the club's earnings even if they sold out every week. Get back to the Ricoh pronto and then we can have the semblance of a squad.

I was under the impression they could put extra funds in as equity which would count towards FFP. In fact I'm pretty sure Fisher said something about covering the lost revenue while we're at NTFC. I, for one, would be shocked to find out he'd told us something that wasn't true.

surely if we loss clarke murphy baker as reported in the mail, then that should free up at least wages to go out and sign more than just 1 or 2 players

The club is dying, and certain campaigns are just quicken its demise imo, I will support my club until there is no longer one to support, I will be surprised if we make it out of this season...

If someone could explain to me what the process is if NOPM does what it was set up to achieve and close the club down?

A hypothetical question...

SISU/Otium decide after a handful of games at Sixfields to walk away, what then happens next?

1. Players and Staff wages
2. Funds for the academy
3. Insurances
4. Players Contracts
5. Ryton
6. Fixtures
7. Club/League Status
8. Season Tickets
9. Golden Share
10. General Dat to Day Running of the Club.

I am being devils advocate here a little, but it would be good to know what happens IF the NOPM campaign succeeds - is there a plan, its all well and good saying NOPM as some sort of solution to our problems, but it needs to more than that, would the trust jump in with funds?

I wouldn't bother, id just shut up shop because we would be royally fooked, but that seems what some want on here now...

If the club is closed down its records are expunged from the league - see Aldershot, Maidstone, Accrington...

Someone will buy the club off sisu.

The old "there's no one else out there" argument is no longer valid.

What difference does it make if a 100 people or a 1000 go to Northampton? Fisher stated that sisu will cover the losses for 3 years. Your argument against nopm doesn't really stand up.

For me, I'm guessing 5,000 people a week makes them less twitchy than 1000. Even if they've said they'll cover losses, they've based those losses on certain calculations. TF stated expected about 7 sell outs at Sixfields. Apart from Wolves (assuming he 'lets' them have the majority of tickets) I'm struggling to see any others? I think small crowds will pressure them to make decisions more quickly. Good, if like me, you want them gone.

SISU are already killing it. (Slowly)
If all last years season ticket holders had a change of heart there is not enough room.
Hence the budget has been cut regardless of fans attending.

If SISU keep throwing money into the club at some point they will be forced to stop by their investors, either directly or indirectly.
The exact point is unknown, as is the state of CCFC when this finally happens.
All I know is that we have to continue to drive it down. Fans going to Sixfields will just delay the process.

We know that once they go we can rebuild. We may not have much of a team, no Ryton etc but we do know we have a fan base that can finance a new one.
The Ricoh and Higgs centre will hopefully be available hence this NOPM needs to work quick.

ASSETS: 10,000 fans, no debts, Ricoh at £150k per year and no SISU is a great start.

If they leave someone will buy them, they will move us back to the Ricoh and likely start to purchase it, they will get a shirt sponsor, they will start selling shirts. Our Crowds will shoot back up, we will probably still get relegated but from next season we can start the process of moving properly forward.

No they will just downsize and will not sell, it will destroy any hope going forward.

Until what?

I mean come on, even if this is a game of chicken, what to they win? A Conference club with it's own ground and no fans. Are they going to sell the club to investors on a promise that fans will come back? Great! That's what most want.

For a lot of people (me included) it's a choice between starving out Sisu and dropping down the leagues or moving support to another/new club and moving up the leagues, but we've accepted that one way or another the football's going to get shit for a bit until we get our club back.

My issue has never been that. Ever since Robinson transformed us from a club with ground and £350k overdraft, to one with £60mil debt and no ground... it's been a steady series of cuts each season anyway until I no longer care and a new club with no links to the past apart from the heritage might at least make it vaguely fun again.

It's hope rather than expectation such an approach will end with SISU saying alright then, we'll sell to a nice generous altruistic bidder with no links to previous regimes at all, however.

The choice is stark, and not giving them cash could well kill off the club. It's just whether the club's so little fun anymore it's something worth taking.

if it is fine.

if not, there's always the alternative option of either not going and hoping, or going, showing support to the players, and hoping the club keeps going long enough for someone to take over.

the last approach is just as realistic approach of working if you value the current club as much as anything else, so all this one-upmanship about who's the better set of fans really needs to stop.

Because once it's over, we're all needed if we need to move forward.
