Time to abandon the diamond with two up - I say we need to switch to Juke as target man with Gardner in the hole behind, then a midfield of Bigi, Thomas, Sheff and Bell/Baker - Hussey and Keogh providing width on the flanks with Cranie and Wood paired at the back. Would give Dunn a chance too.

Thoughts?

Agree. Guessing McDonald will be injured.

What we really, really, really need is for the midfield to support the attack. If we play 5 in midfield we should surely be able to do this.

Thorn will never give up this awful diamond formation.

Think we need to go back to the 4 3 3 in attack 451 in defense, almost the Chelsea style with mcsheff on the left hand side and McDonald on he right. can then play a midfield 3 of Thomas Bigi and Gardner.

I don't think Cody could play that wide role, he looks an out an out goal poacher to me. In fact he looked lost in the 10 mins he played there v Southampton.

if Clingan and McDonald are out then Gardner will play the holding midfield role with Bigi and Thomas also playing deep. Tip of diamond should be Baker with Platt and Juke up front. The other option is to play McSheferry as a striker and use Platt as an impact sub. Whatever way you look at it take Gardner and Juke out and there is no quality. Also hope Wood stays in defence but I suspect Christie will be back again poor kid! He needs a couple of games rest not 70 minutes! PUSB

If you went for 5 in midfield it would be;

Bigi, Thomas, Gardner, McShuff, Baker /Bell.

Could put Baker/Bell on the right, McShuff on the left, Bigi in the slightly deeper role and Thomas and Gardner in the centre of midfield with Gardner having the licence to push forwards.
