... The man who took us to the 'promised land', but left soon after, leaving a big 'what if' question.

How successful do you think he would've been for CCFC in Division 1!?

You confuse me with division 1. If you mean league 1, where we are now? He proved that he was succesful at this level.

Jimmy Hill got promoted to Division 1, now the Prem, I'm asking would he have done well?

I don't understand the point of the question. Whatever people answer is purely hypothetical. I could say that Hitler would have taken the club to glory to 1960 Eurovision song contest if he hadn't been killed 15 years before, and no-one can prove me wrong. Although it would probably have been called the Germanvision song contest.

I seem to remember most people thought the squad wasn't really good enough for the 1st Div. and that Hill's move was pretty canny.

Jimmy Hill left Coventry City simply because Robins would not give him the 10 year contract that he wanted. Nothing more to it than that.

I think there was a theory from Robins that Hill had been approached for a media job and asked for the 10 yr deal knowing Robins would not go for that ,hope i hav'nt repeated something in the thread as i hav'nt read it .
Was a docu type peice on it somewhere recently ,maybe on the box or more likely something deano put up on here .

I have put on another thread about Jimmy Hill's time here and as i said on there i loved every minute of his stay but would never have put a statue uo to him, we were a stepping stone for something that didn't happen and then JH took the move into TV. Hill the football manger i loved and he had the ability to be a real top boss but thats' it for me and ended in 1967.

Don't think so mate. JH asked for the ten year deal which Robins would not accept and only then did the ITV contract come up. That is how I remember it anyway. Only JH himself can now confirm this of course.
