It was the mitigation employed when Maddison went.Obviously that's why they'd sell now. But in the same breath he could potentially go on to have an even better season than he did during the last campaign which would drive up his value up exponentially.
Playing it safe also in turn loses them money but due to the model and the pandemic it's understandable they'd potentially look to cash in. So, whilst I think it's incredibly short sighted, I do appreciate the club's position.
