Allowing the clock to be stopped will make for exponentially more time wasting and cynical game management, not less.

Precisely, tried watching NFL a couple of times but the stopping the clock thing I found really annoying.

but they stop it every time it goes out of bounds. Not like I'm suggesting we stop it for goal kicks, corners and throws! Just injuries and subs.

The officials take an inordinate amount of time out of the game for set pieces It's rediculous really, has it always been like this, can't say I can make a judgement myself?

why is the referee is the only person in the stadium not capable of telling the difference between a major injury and someone falling to the floor when clearly nobody has touched them.

we all know instantly when its a major injury, if nothing else the players reaction gives it away.

don't understand why this is such an issue in football but every other sport has managed to avoid it.

I get Adge’s point, and many refs don’t show the mental fortitude required to deal with it, but some do. I recall in our FA Cup semi final Rashford went down like a sack of shit, ref just told him to get up and the game played on. Was it Attwell who was the ref that day?

I've never agreed with people saying the solution is to treat players on the pitch and let the game continue but after yesterday I'm fully on board with it.

Have to say one thing, he did well with our goal not to give a foul against MVE, given some of the soft fouls he'd given against us all game. Was the correct decision, but I was 100% expecting him to rule it out given the way the game had gone.

Think that was his way of saying I'm fucking fed up with this pantomime...I thought he was a terrible ref but he is in a lose lose with diving and play acting if he doesn't stop play and it really is genuine then he's fucked BUT how did he not send the lad to sideline after getting treatment was ...just wtf

Rules have changed if there is a yellow involved - if the repair is quick he gets to stay on - the fact that he was a cheating bastard with nothing wrong with him is beside the point

Players and managers always find a way to exploit the rules bo matter what laws they bring in. Since the head injury protocol for example the number of players who go down with a head injury when the contact was in the back or chest area is laughable.

Why? If it's not a head injury then the game isn't stopped for outfield players when the ball is in play.

If they are genuinely injured take then off. I can never get my head around one minute looking like you've broken something to getting up and playing on as normal.

Players and managers have always done this and will continue to do this. How there was only 3 mins added in time in the first half was surprising

How about however long you spend recieving treatment is how long you have to wait on the touch line before you can come back on.
And the same for substitutes( make exceptions for where a doctor certifies serious injury).
And if they persist with goalkeepers playing silly buggers. They have to leave the field for the time they were being treated, with an outfield player taking the jersey.
See how many want to go down then.

The sad part of yesterday’s game is that , the referee was not at this level of officiating & more worrying, is that the spineless EFL won’t take any notice of any report going in from CCFC …….. it would only probably go against us
