Wonder what QPR have seen in him. Hopefully don’t find out next week

I think that's a good deal all round for all parties really.

They've got some injuries at the moment I think so I guess maybe he's a bit of a stop gap for now until players return, then they'll look to develop him.

Would we call this a success from our academy? Picked him up from non league at 17 years old, sold for half a million at 21 years old. I'd say it is a good case study, along with Sam Mccallum that we can turn non league players into league players with the right attitude, attributes and training.

Of course there will always be Bowe Bosma or whatever he was called

Good bit of business to get £500k if true. He's looked good when I've seen him in pre-season games in past seasons, but the club has probably progressed to a level out of reach now for him.

As others have said, I was expecting he'd be one who is released for free at the end of his contract
Yes, good bit of business. All helps the cash flow

It's a win win for all round, it's a low risk gamble for us to let him go, he has attributes to be a good striker but isn't going to get game time with us. But the sale probably funds the wages of Esse for half the season to hopefully get us promoted now. Not saying they are linked, but just all helps in the bigger picture.

Will be happy to see him do well.

He was out on loan so surely we werent paying his most probable meagre wages anyway

How many players have we happily let leave that have gone on to greater things?

Struggling to think of any in recent years.
I can’t think of any post league 2. Just seems so random that you wonder what’s being missed. Wonder what QPR fans think?

If I remember correct isn't he quite a big and quick lad.

maybe QPR think they can coach him into being a better goal scorer

good business, 500k for someone who was likely leaving in a free in a few months

He’s already a big lad and from what I’ve heard some of his injuries problems have been related to his growth. Think he’s got enough to be a real handful in 3-4 years, and probably look a good striker at this level.

Saw him at Stevenage in pre season 2024. He started and scored, and looked decent. Skillful, fairly quick and he's a big unit. He did strike me as slightly lackadaisical though. If he can't get minutes in League 1 he is not getting anywhere near our team this season. Perhaps we have a young striker lined up. if we lost 2 of Wright, Simms or BTA to injury at the same time we are going to need a back up striker from somewhere.

I'd say its very unlikely we are going to be in the market for a 4th choice striker.

It's 500k we wouldn't otherwise had, as suspect he would have been let go whatever happens end of the season. Hopefully has some sort of sell on incase he really progresses. Think he will be a decent championship striker - good news is we are clearly looking to not be at that level. Let's hope Doug backs that in the next 10 days.
