I only saw him only once in a friendly at Exeter a couple of seasons ago. I thought he had something about him, but he was never given opportunity here under Robins or Frank. Shame really, but obviously have to trust manager and coaching staff’s judgement. Good luck to him.

I only saw him once in a pre season friendly versus MK (then league 2), he had excellent link up play with Kasey Palmer.

We used to go to most home U21 games when he first started coming through. He had some great games, particularly at the CBS and he - to me at least - really stood out as someone who could actually make it.

Ordinarily, I think that would have been with us, but our success this season means he's been left behind. I have no doubt he will have a good career at Championship level.

Cheap deal if that's true. Hope we have a substantial sell on just in case he steps up.

Deal agreed for QPR to sign Obikwu for initial £500,000 - West London Sport

QPR have agreed a deal to sign striker Justin Obikwu from Coventry City. An agreement in principle is in place for the 21-year-old from Brent to return to London for an initial fee of £500,000. Personal terms are still to be agreed and there are other clubs interested in Obikwu, but he looks set...

Not for us no but has 52 senior appearances over 3 loan spells. Not saying he would make it here but he's got good attributes and has done enough during his loan spells to hint that he at least has a craic and a decent career.

Sort of wonder if QPR think they’ll get a higher level/tune out of him, why couldn’t we? Meh. Not important really.

Next season, we should be in the Prem. Any young player we’re not confident can make that step up should be moved on.

I hadn't realised Obikwu was nearly 22. For some reason I thought he was 18-19. That being the case this does seem like decent business for him and us. Good luck tomhim though, saw him play a couple of times for Grimsby and he definitely had a bit about him.

Good luck to him, bit of a victim of our success over the last couple of seasons.

If we were in QPRs position I’d expect him to be our back up next season, so a good deal for all sides I’d say.

Confirmed.

Presume he was concerned he would miss out on a ticket, doesn't have enough priority points...

That seems like quite a lot!

For the player I mean, not Doug's bar tab in the Alps which I expect could well be worth half a million.

Well we have Doug Bling who wouldn’t think about spending a fortune on a proven striker at Lincoln

I wish i was a QPR fan

I think the lad can do well, so 500k is a decent fee but i hope we tagged on a sell on clause.

I also hope this means we see more movement, id expect another 1 out and potentially 2 more in.

Good fee for him.

I expected he would be another who would go out on loan until he left on a free.

Good bit of business to get £500k if true. He's looked good when I've seen him in pre-season games in past seasons, but the club has probably progressed to a level out of reach now for him.

As others have said, I was expecting he'd be one who is released for free at the end of his contract

QPR tend to do quite well with strikers in my opinion. Didn't realise that Rumarn Burrell they picked up from Burton and has done well this season, was in our academy at one stage.

Producing professional footballers isn't all about Premier League or even Championship players. People can have decent careers in League 1 & 2. Also after playing at that level for a few years some step up to the Championship around the 25-26 year old mark.

Exhibit A: Ephron Mason Clark.
