As a city fan I still keep an eye on our local teams one being Nuneaton.
Interesting to see they are well poised to push for promotion to league 2.

This being the case they would be 1 league below us presuming we don't get relegated, if by some nightmare scenario that did happen we would find ourselves in a local derby with them.
It made me think to, what's stopping Nuneaton and Bedworth from ground sharing the Ricoh?

I've been to Boro quite a few times while City are playing at shitfields. The fans arent very vocal but its good action and cheap tickets. They have a great squad so wouldnt suprise me to see them go up thru the playoffs. They would need to improve Liberty Way tho as it would certainly fail FL inspections

You can't point that one out. It is an outrageous suggestion that will now be continuously referred to every time you post on here in the future....

However common sense would suggest it is a possibility.

Is it acceptable on your moral compass now for teams to play outside of their home town or city?

Depends on what the fans think. Everyone on here seem to think they can talk on behalf of Nuneaton Town fans.
You may find if they think it will help move their club forward they won't mind moving a couple of miles down the road. Who knows.

However if you owned Nuneaton and you did get promoted and it was going to cost you serious money to upgrade your stadium would you make enquiries and see what the situation was at the Ricoh?

You're saying it's acceptable on a short term financial level to move out of the town or city. That's odd.

Who said short term?

If Nuneaton fans are happy about it then it could be long term.

If the majority of Coventry fans felt a new stadium in Nuneaton and Bedworth was the correct thing to do. I would not have a problem with that either.

So the football league should grant a poll to Nuneaton and if 50.1% of respondents said move they should allow it?

Its good to keep the debate in the real world isn't it Grendel.

If the football league was to do such a poll, it would have been nice if they did it with us :)

The majority for such a decision would have to be more than a simple majority. I think there is something called a supermajority? Not sure what the parameters are for that

I'm sure if grounds are not up to standard the league insist they are or deny them promotion. I'm sure the other promotion contenders would be thrilled if they just said we will play somewhere else then.

Wow did not realise they have already done that.
Hypothetically if it costs 3 million to get their stadium up to scratch.

If ACL offered them a ten year sliding scale rent deal say 100k in league 2.
They also get a share of the food and drink.

Could it ever be economically viable for Nuneaton?

What would they get if they sold liberty way to property developers?

I don't think there will be a rule against that. Otherwise SISU would not be able to build the new stadium in Nuneaton and Bedworth?

I'm 99% certain that if Liberty Way wasn't upto standard, they would get it ready at the drop of a hat.

I believe they paid between £10k-£20k a season rent last year. So £100k is far too steep.

Very much doubt they would play at the Ricoh. Wouldn't be a popular move at all. Boro fans seem to dislike Coventry with a vigor!

You are assuming that ACL would charge them £100K.
If ACL are getting absolutely nothing at the moment then any income is better than that.
You can see that from the various U21 matches etc that are being played there.

Boro fans may dislike Coventry but the ultimate 'one upmanship' is to actually take over their ground.

ACL would seriously have to blank CCFC for good or groundshare, but this becomes a major decision that would only be made if SISU dare to lay some bricks.

Wow wow wow slow down there how can you imply that the majority of Cov fans are against the move to Northampton - there hasn't been an official vote!! Or has there? Maybe I missed it...was it a majority...a supermajority? Lol...

No, they wouldn't travel to Coventry to watch Nuneaton, in great numbers.

Torch 3 miles is different to 33 and if it meant getting FL status why not?

Perhaps they will rent the Ricoh while they upgrade their own ground?

All I know is this bunch of muppets running our club have said they are building their own ground, didn't they torch?

So the Ricoh is open to discussion

To me you don't need a poll the answer is pretty obvious?

On your rationale then, the new ground in Exhall is perfectly acceptable, being less than a mile from the Coventry boundary. Is that correct?

I want us at the Ricoh what other land is available within CCC boundaries?
None?
Anyway the new ground won't happen we all know that.
