That is MPs for you. But never mind the bollocks, how can the club get out of this mess?
Unfortunately, all this action from MPs is too little too late. Where were they when:
1. The heavily indebted club sold its home without a spade having gone in the ground at the new site nor any funding for its construction being secure
2. The heavily indebted club sold its stake in ACL for a paltry £2m (repaying debt to Derek Higgs et al should not be considered as part of the price)
3. The council forced ACL into a 50 year lease loaded with £21m debt
4. The club was forced into a takeover by SISU, with the express approval of the council due to the imposition of an arbitrary deadline by one Geoffrey Robinson
5. On the return of the club to the Ricoh, the council decided to sell the Ricoh to London Wasps rugby club despite the eminent threat to livelihood of both of the city's existing football and rugby clubs
6. Wasps rugby club leveraged the Arena with an even bigger debt to 3rd parties, ultimately putting to bed any lingering chance of CCFC (under new owners) realistically being able to buy into the stadium and assuring minimal investment in the site for the foreseeable future

So the councillors who approved it got voted out ? Nopeno, Italia is the unofficial spokesman for the whole populus of Coventry. If I'm right in m assumption he doesn't even live in the city then it's quite an achievement.

I've only spoken to one person in the city who thinks they should be here and I've yet to see anyone out and about wearing Wasps merchandise.If you got out more you would know.

We were screwed before the Wasps deal.Well it is not quite how I see it, but I think there was ultimately no negotiating with SISU so Ann Lucas after a year of trying said 'fuck it' and did a deal that screwed them.
One thing is certain there is a lot of hate for SISU, I hear it at the pub & the barbers & anywhere else where the conversation can easily turn to CCFC.

Blind hatred of Wasps will not help our situation.
As I said, Wasps are now the solution not the problem.
Coventry ratepayers are more interested in the fact that the Ricoh is in use rather than who plays there. Most have no idea of our plight.
I replied. You chose to ignore it. I explained how this is one step of many. You can if you choose to pay attention to how it’s evolved in Westminster and see a progression. It’s gone from one or two MP’s raising it in parliament to early day motions to being discussed in Parliament to who knows where. Maybe just maybe all parties will be asked to Parliament to explain themselves as has happened to Sports Direct, BHS and more recently Carillon personnel, surely (although probably not) even you would welcome that? Joy having a grilling and being asked some meaningful questions, Anne Lucas having a grilling and being asked some meaningful questions.
Thank god you wasn’t a woman in the time of the suffragette movement or a black person living in America during the civil rights movement. What’s the point would have been your response failing to realise that it wasn’t a single act that changed things it was a collective.
How is it progressing? The sports minister straight out said it was nothing to do with them and they couldn't do anything about it as it was a private matter.
If they can force joy, council, pwkh and everybody in to grill them then great. I still don't think they could force an agreement but if they could at least get some answers it would have done that. If it happens I am more than happy to be wrong.
Genuine question here. What is the actual benefit of our situation being discussed in Parliament. Surely government doesn't have the jurisdiction to intervene, but merely just give Joy a grilling?
It’s moved forward in Westminster, three times now. What’s your definition of progress? The sports minister was talking about the rent agreement specifically, not that they can’t hold people involved in what is a situation that has in part been allowed to happen because of the governance of the game. That’s what we need to progress to and that ain’t going to happen unless fans, fan groups, local MP’s or whoever put pressure on it happening. Your attitude is part of the problem that will allow a continuation of the status quo that not only effects our club and fans but football as a whole. You have a defeatist attitude that doesn’t serve CCFC. It’s people like you that people like the sports minister love, if we all had your attitude she could pretend that the problems have gone away and there’s nothing for her to fix, the EFL can go on pretending that they’re doing a good job, MP’s can pretend that they’re not failing their voters by addressing local issues etc etc and nothing changes. Like I said in an earlier post I wrote to my local MP asking him to support it, I’ve also advised others on here to do the same. My local MP is backing us, not saying it’s down to me, maybe he was going to back it anyway who knows. What I wasn’t going to do is what you’ve done, assume it won’t achieve anything and not bother. It’s really up to you Nick, you can either fight on any front for the future of our club in hope that it can achieve something or do as you have and take the lazy option, assume it won’t achieve anything and do fuck all but question what it will achieve. You have no idea what it could achieve.

I think I know who the beneficiaries would be in such a circumstance and they would not include the fans of the club.
How has it moved forward? It was pretty much how I said it would play out in the first page.
I like how you make out it's just my attitude, there have been numerous posters who have also said it won't achieve anything in the thread with a mixture of views.
Fight on any front? It wasn't so long ago one of the parties going all out on this was encouraging away days only to put the club into admin to get the club handed to the fans. It's all well and good shaking hands with the blackpool or charlton fans and being best buddies but in reality it's done nothing and the EFL can't really do anything about it.
NICK IS NEVER WRONG! Thank god your attitude isn’t endemic of our fan base. We’d be going down without so much as a whimper. Don’t think he was being patronising either. The point is no one knows what it could achieve. The only certainty is that doing nothing will achieve nothing. We have to keep pushing it to see how far we can take it. It started out as a couple of MP’s raising it in Parliament, it then raised an EDM and now some local MP’s backed by various fans groups have secured parliamentary debate on us. Where that will lead is yet to be seen but there are options on how it could move forward but people have to be pushing it forward, people need to write to their MP’s if their MP’s aren’t contribution, we through fan groups need need to use our voice. Being lazy and criticising with one liners like what will it achieve achieves nothing, unless you’re one of the interested parties then it achieves letting them of the hook. You think it’s achieved nothing and the process hasn’t even finished yet, there’s plenty of places for this to go yet within Westminster but that will only happen if MP’s continue to push it and fans and fans groups push them. We’ve completed lap three the race is far from over and it’s an endurance race, you’ve retired to the pits without even completing a warm up lap. Leave the racing to those of us who are interested in doing it. You may as well go home, put your feet up, have a cup of tea and wait for it to blow over. If in a few months the football league is reformed off the back of it then I'd be wrong and pretty happy to say that I was wrong and say fair play. The same as I said if SISU suddenly go because of a Telegraph petition I'd also be wrong and happy to be so and send a crate of beer to the telegraph and other instances.
