The last city game (at walsall) was the best atmosphere so far this season, forget sixfields go to milton keynes for a great time.

I suggest you address your questions to several people who know and understand what's involved with running a football club but I'm not going to be foolish enough to name them.

Nobody is right here, SISU, Coventry City Council, ACL, The Alan Higgs Trust or the other parties involved.

I'm afraid if I were the type to invest in such funds as SISU manage, their current positioning would please me immensely and encourage me to keep my funds there.

Far more than their previous tenancy of the club.

You would have to leave them in as there would not be a lot you would be getting back and the BIG question is how much more will they need to keep paying the wages.

We do know that the football
League had evidence the losses are to be funded. If these funds are generated by one or two high risk investors who are gambling on a specified endgame then it doesn't matter if 1 or 6,000 are in Sixfields. Indeed if promotion was achieved then much of the speculators funds will be recouped almost immediately.

Crowds mean nothing and negative publicity even less.

RFC is discrediting himself by making pretty big assumptions, I sympathise with what he's saying somewhat, whilst not totally agreeing with him (but not with his predictions).

Short term, we would've been worse off, because relegation was a certainty if we had gone into admin (likely had SISU not come in), but after that, no one can account for anything, we could've had a Southampton-style like recovery, but likewise, a Luton/Pompey-style further decay.

I do think Alki David's comments are worth looking into (multi-billionaire who was looking to invest before looking at the finances) he said: "after looking at the finances, and numbers, the club is falling apart", quickly pulling out and wishing whoever took over 'good luck' and what we do know, is that hedge-funds make risky investments

I agree we would have gone down. Sisu may have 'saved us' in 2007, but how long are they going to live off that?

It can be said in equal measure that the council and higgs trust saved us in 2003.

I remember an article in either the Times or some other broadsheets in the 90's with headline "what is the point of Coventry City?" It's thrust was all Coventry City`s ambition was yo stay up in Orem and no more. It annoyed a lot of people at the time including me as it was so condescending.

I will use a similaar headline , "what is the point of Coventry City if it does play there or represent the city of Coventry?"

Perhaps not in non-league, it is probable, that ha SISU not 'come to the rescue', we would've got relegated that season (we survived by 1 point, -10 = relegation). There's no good predicting what would've happened from then, someone worse than SISU could've came in, by the same merit, we could've had someone better,

Well for example Swansea don't own their own ground (the council own it) and the Swans are a few leagues higher than we are. They are part owners in the stadium management company* something we could have been in ACL, but SISU walked away from talks with the Higgs. :facepalm:

As for your not revealing your sources, that just suggests to me that you don't have any evidence. At all. Might be best not to make claims that you can't evidence, or people might just think that you're bullshitting to support your own view - or if you prefer offering your opinion as fact.

Quite a few of Norfampton fans seemed to have changed allegience and are going to City games they reckon its cheaper and better entertainment. What would happen if City robbed that many Norfampton fans it effected their cash flow?

Chelsea's is disengenuous. Their troubles in the 80s were because they didn't own the freehold, Bates then reunited it, but it's been put in trust wilfully by the club to protect it, and there's a peppercorn rent for a 199 year lease.

Hull are making noises about their ground holding them back.

Leeds's ground troubles are also a source of acrimony, with noises being made that the club and ground being separated are stopping them fulfilling their potential.

leicester are exactly what people keep banging on about here would be horror of horrors, if the same organisation as owned the club owned the ground, but put it in a property subsidiary.

Ipswich is complicated. The club own the physical stands and other buildings, the club lease the ground the stands stand on(!) for 125 years from 1969. In 2011 the club claimed the freehold was holding them back, bid £1mil for it, failed to buy it.

Wolves tried to buy the freehold, but in the end the compromise was the council gave them a 999 year lease, so the club could do as it pleased, but there'd always be a ground there.

What they all show is that clubs feel held back if they don't hold the freehold. The compromise often reached when people are concerned about owners' motives is to grant an unreasonably long lease at a peppercorn rent, so the club can develop its ground with confidence, and in effect 'own' it.

Going back to the Ricoh is or would be a backward step, everyone conveniently seems to have forgotten that the unsustainable rent deal (£1:28 Million) was signed more than 2 years before we even moved-in 2003 and just to "break-even", we required gates in excess of 23,000! Give me strength!

Our current owners should not have agreed to it when they took over the club but the rent issue had previously been brought to the councils attention by our chairman in 2005/06 but his requests for a revue were turned down. He borrowed heavily to off-set the losses we inevitably were making and was unable to repay the debt.

I worked and lived on the other side of the Humber bridge whilst their ground went through the planning stage and was built. I know how the ground was paid for and have said on here a few times. The council even rents part of the ground off Hull Hull had never been in the top flight until they had the ground to play in. They have been a much better club since they moved in. So how can it be holding them back?
