It still doesn't stack up. Take out luck and opposition teams playing poorly at the Ricoh and all other factors and you just have to deduce that losing 10 on the trot away, but 5 out of 6 at home is just plain baffling.

In the last 4 home games we have scored;

1
2
2
3

That's 8 goals in 4 games. We therefore can score goals.

Last 4 away games;

0
0
0
1.

That's 1 goal in 4 games. We obviously can't score goals.

:facepalm::facepalm:

Just baffling. Has to be down to the way we set out our stall away from home.

I'm desperately trying to formulate a reason for this difference in form but simply can't think of one. As you say Otis it is baffling.

I do think we have been lucky at home in that the away teams have played poorly at times (Leeds and Middlesborough) and Barnsley had no intention whatsoever of trying to win the game.

Correct. Anyone who seen the winning games CAN NOT surely say otherwise. (and yes, I have seen them all)

The problem with Lady Luck, is she don't hang around long.

3 of our last 5 home goals have been penalties.

So is that it. We have met teams at the Ricoh who have either played badly for one reason or another or who have not played to win?

Everytime anyone says we are lucky when we win some people on here are jumping straight down your throat for not giving Thorn any praise.

The way i see it is this;

1. We are not a very good team and a relegation fight was always likely.

2. When we have won we haven't played particularly well on the whole and have been lucky in that the likes of Leeds (their fans say worst performance of the season by far) and Middlesborough (down to 10 men, own goal) both were poor on the day.

3. This is why some people do not give Thorn or the team too much praise when we win. Yes, pleased as punch with the victory, but there are usually more than one or two worries about what transpired and how the victory was won. Perfectly rational in my book. Play really well and a thoroughly deserved victory, then yes of course, praise would be heaped upon the man at the helm.

4. Nothing suggests that Thorn is a good manager. We expected a relegation dogfight and we got one. Can't see how on earth he can be touted as having us overachieve. We are where we are. Don't quite see how much worse it could have been. Whether he is a poor manager or not is open to lots of debate.

5. I do personally think we are underachieving. In the pre-season I would simply not have believed anyone who had said we would be in the bottom 3 from October to March. Down in the bottom 6, yes. Relegated, more than likely, bottom 3 for 6 months, no.

5 wins out of 6 though should have transpired into a few more battling away performances though shouldn't it. it's all been a bit powder puff for me.

Think with that and that conclusion I have just convinced myself that we have been a bit lucky, will lose at home very soon, possibly even the next two games and that we will be relegated.

Fook you, Otis!!! :facepalm:

Option one for me. Luck can only do so much.
