What Planet is the bloke on everbody could see it was a complete shambles and he comes out with a load of bollocks like that. what a joker
It's possible he believes this in which case you have to question his sanity.
However I don't think he believes it, it's scientifically proven that positive feedback is in most cases more successful than negative feedback, there is even studies that show that players who receive positive feedback after a game have more testosterone in their system in their next game even when its a week later compared to those criticised and berated after a game.
There have been studies that showed negative feedback was more benefitial but these studies were flawed in that they didn't take regression to the mean into account, ie if someone does much worse than you expect them to do at something, it's very likely that next time they try will do much better whatever and when someone performs much better than you expect at something next time they will likely perform worse.
my information is second hand though and not from reading the studies myself so it's possible I'm not fully informed.
We see this from alot of top managers though don't we, it's never their teams fault, the referee is always bad, their was bad luck, the managers never seen their own teams dives etc etc, I don't believe these managers are stupid and watched a different game to us, I just think they believe this is the best way to get the best out of their players.

Maybe but Barton came out yesterday and pretty much echoed Pressleys thoughts, saying we done lots of things and didn't deserve to lose. Even if he doesn't really believe it he's making the players believe that was a good performance which is just insane.

ERIC BLACK.
Anyway, a decent manager knows which players to encourage, and which to kick - that's what separates the good from the great. tbh what they say in public I tend not to listen to... of more concern is the nagging suspicion Pressley's managed to alienate half his squad... repeatedly.
And even if that's not his fault, and what Pressley is doing is right... it shows poor managerial skill if it causes division.
Is it Pressley or is it the players he has been given?
I struggle with this question.
If you look at the last 10 games we've played, in stats, it's awful. In fact it's embarrassing.
Game | Shots on Target |
Scunthorpe | 2 |
Rochdale | 3 |
Preston | 0 |
Crawley | 3 |
Crewe | 4 |
Bristol City | 3 |
Oldham | 2 |
Peterborough | 6 |
Leyton Orient | 3 |
Notts County | 0 |
Game Shots on Target Scunthorpe 2 Rochdale 3 Preston 0 Crawley 3 Crewe 4 Bristol City 3 Oldham 2 Peterborough 6 Leyton Orient 3 Notts County 0
26 shots on target in 10 games. An average of 2.6 a game. Now that is embarrassing.
I'm sure that that was said ironically but it may well be true. You need to get the ball to them however in good areas. Nothing of the sort was happening yesterday. And we have the 3 best strikers in the league.....![]()

Whilst true. They also didn't make any chance of their own. A lot has been made of moussa and baker, but Clarke and Wilson made a lot of goals for themselves and each other. Nouble has a lot of talent, but he doesn't like going into the box much. The midfield were awful yesterday but it doesn't help when your front two are so static.
And simeon Jackson is just poor. Wilson and Clarke were an exceptional partnership (don't think they knew themselves how good they were together) that is not going to happen very often. Wallace and Ferguson springs to mind. We now have a different partnership up front who require balls played to feet.

BBCCCFCWay, where are you getting your shots on target game by game data?

yep, went to BBC report for each game
Sure, there is obviously not one right answer to motivating and getting the best out of people, every person needs a different thing too and even one person would benefit from different things at different times
