We really need leaders out on the pitch now-someone who is going to rally the troops and pull people up by the bootlaces. Is Grimes that person? Leads by example in other ways I guess but not a warrior. It’s easy to throw the old “there’s leaders all over the pitch” line out which is a cliche aswell but I feel this is what is severely lacking. Hopefully the tank is that person.

simplistic view of leadership and influence on the pitch

I think Woolfenden could add a little bit.

Certainly gave MVE a rollocking in the first half (and yes I know leadership isn't only about shouting at people).

Yes MVE lazy getting back and got a bollocking because Woolf really was stretched on the cover.

MVE was one of the worst players on the pitch today along with Sakamoto and Torp.

Saw that as well. It was good to see.

FWIW, we seem to have kicked the tag of ‘ Entertainers’ in to touch. It was so frustrating seeing Grimes (Like Sheaf), holding up progression and also the deeper roles of Dasilva and MVE.

Surely we need to stick to what we’re good at? There must be ways of covering if JDS/MVE run the ball up the other end?

We use MVE far too often for thrown ins when he trots over from one side of the pitch to the other. We lose momentum.

I said it the other day no battlers on the pitch.

That’s why I was shocked not to even see 15mins of the tank
It wasn’t his game. He is here to defend, Oxford barely mustered an attack second half. We needed the lock smith, not the safe door.
