I’d already cancelled mine anyway, but I would imagine that as long as the owner of the data (the supporter) gives their explicit consent then they could have continued with it?

Unless the data was kept in a paper file that wasn’t secure, then they might have been at risk of a data breach, but surely now a days the data would be secured somewhere securely and not on paper (otherwise it’d have to be input individually every game!)

Isn't it to do with sharing details provided to CCFC with third parties, e.g. other clubs? Couldn't this be addressed through consent anyway?

The away tickets are distributed by our ticket master staff based at the Butts; the tickets are posted from the Butts, so what details would they have to give to the other clubs? I’m thinking none?

Was the payment through Ticketmaster as well or was it a case of somebody putting the card details in every time?

Good point; Otium entertainment, which I think was the same transaction reference when buying tickets yourself through TicketMaster

This will interesting as I think the further up you go you have to offer these as an option.

Doesn't seem to apply in the Championship, just had a look at Villa and they've scrapped theirs as well. The replacement is you pay £40 to get access to a priority booking.

GDPR is quite possibly the stupidest thing I’ve ever come across. It’s cost businesses a fortune meaning prices have had to go up and most haven’t really stored data any differently as most were doing so securely anyway. All it’s done is pissed off businesses as they’ve had needless outlay on it and the consumer as we’ve had to keep telling you about it.

With regards to Ticketmaster/CCFC I’m not quite sure what the problem is. My business is fully compliant and my payment gateway stores card details. I’m guessing Apple and Amazon are compliant too. It’s all nonsense and should’ve been shelved before it started.

On the subject of TicketMaster, did anyone get their ‘data breach’ email yesterday? I didn’t but a friend did. Checked on t’interweb and seems genuine and a ‘unknown third party’ have accessed TicketMaster data. Mate wasn’t sure if it was linked to CCFC purchases as didn’t recall booking any other tickets, but I’ve booked football and others on there but didn’t get it?

I got one. Think I'd change my login password regardless...

Data security incident by third-party supplier
On Saturday, June 23, 2018, Ticketmaster UK identified malicious software on a customer support product hosted by Inbenta Technologies, an external third-party supplier to Ticketmaster.

As soon as we discovered the malicious software, we disabled the Inbenta product across all Ticketmaster websites.

As a result of Inbenta’s product running on the Ticketmaster UK website, some of our customers’ personal or payment information may have been accessed by an unknown third-party.

We are contacting you because you purchased, or attempted to purchase, tickets between February and June 23, 2018 and therefore may have been affected by the Inbenta incident.

Forensic teams and security experts are working around the clock to understand how the data was compromised.

We are working with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), as well as credit card companies, banks and relevant authorities.

What we are doing:

  • Ticketmaster UK has established a dedicated website security.ticketmaster.co.ukto answer your questions about the Inbenta incident. You can also contact fan.help@ticketmaster.co.uk
  • As a precautionary measure, all notified customers will need to reset their passwords when they next log into their accounts

We are offering impacted customers a free 12 month identity monitoring service with a leading provider. To request this service please visit this page.

We recommend that you monitor your account statements for evidence of fraud or identity theft. If you are concerned or notice any suspicious activity on your account, you should contact your bank(s) and any credit card companies.

Ticketmaster understands the importance of your personal information. We take the protection of that information very seriously and we are sorry to have to write to you in these circumstances.

Faithfully,

The Ticketmaster Team
