Is this a record of how one club have sent out so many players on loan/get rid off,in a transfer window.1 player in tells you the club have already settled for mid table this season.I agree with all the players being loaned out,but surely they could have brought 1 player in on loan, just to boost the rest off the squad.

Fans of at least half the 92 clubs are probably saying something similar, their club has no ambition
Then you have those of clubs like Everton cheering while their club spends a preposterous amount on a player Spurs are relieved to see the back of
Football really is a madhouse

There's only real ambition at a very small amount of clubs in the whole of England..

I accept people's frustrations but I expected probably 1 more in and if that doesn't happen then my world will not fall apart

Most of us are not asking for the club to spend vast sums that make the club unsustainable …. We are asking for a little modest short term investment in a loan signing or two to help us compete in a wide open league.

everytime we debate Derby et al we miss the point that such a desire isn’t unreasonable or outlandish, it’s actually the basis on which mist supporters operate. We want hope, belief, and a littke ambition.

robins is doing a remarkable job, wehave record season tickets, above budget crowds, weve chopped out the dead wood, and in Sheaf, Hamer and O’Hare we have assets. If you don’t speculate sensibly with this back cloth then frankly our owners never will.

Struggling to see what people don’t understand here. We’ve let a few players out on low salaries (we signed them in league 2 and league 1) and we’ve signed a championship LB who other clubs wanted to sign. It’s not 1 for 1, we’ve balanced the books by offloading deadwood on low wages and signing a better quality player on a 3 year deal

Walker according to an insider was one of the highest earners and it’s a direct swap for this years wage expenditure

I struggle to believe that Portsmouth in league 1 have taken on ‘one of our highest paid players’ wages in full

I think we should enjoy that (for once) we're not in a position where we have to roll the dice and desperately sign lots of players each window. It's a good thing and reflects the fact that the squad has been effectively developed over the past few years, and has been performing very well this season.

I hope the days of trying to learn the names of our ten new first team players each summer are behind us.

Yes they are paying 70% to 80 %, Walker was one of our highest paid players last season coming in from a championship club

Key bits of information being "one of" and "last season". Not that shocking given much of the squad were promoted with us and he was signed from another championship club.

Taking away Walker we have kept all of our main men and added one very championship experienced player in Bidwell. Think we all know where we need to improve for a big promotion push next season so let’s hope Robins is allowed to do that.

This is one take on it. The other take would be that the January window is for the rich and desperate; we are neither. We properly prepared in the summer and got in our long term targets thanks to the work of Robins and the scouting team.

Secondly, we have had January windows in the past where we have sold our prize assets in the final days. We have got through the window and kept hold of Hamer, Vik, Moore etc. We don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, the club might have been turning down bids and focusing on retainment.

Every club’s fans in the country are probably sat there thinking I wish we had brought X in or the unicorn of all that is the ready-made 20 goal a season striker. It’s not that simple.

After seeing our recent signings not work out as expected and resulting in a massive exodus this Jan, maybe MR and his team feel that sometimes less is more and believe in quality over quantity. Obviously the budget is a huge part of that as well. I was hoping for 1 more incoming to boost the team for a playoff push, but I think the main aim this window was to hang onto assets and clear the deadwood. Still with all the moves other teams have made, I was hoping we could have brought in 1 AM on loan. I think with the team we have, a mid table finish is probably the best we can realistically achieve. Guess the team would consider that as progress and look to build on it incrementally. Hope they have their summer targets identified and that Badlan is on his phone making calls.

MR has said multiple times that the building process will take time and is ever evolving. We have came up from L2 with some of those players still in our squad this season. He knows what he had and who are capable at any given time. And will react and improve where he needs to at the right time to benefit the club.

This season he knew after staying up, for us to push on, we needed the 1st team coach to be a higher standard than what we had. He knew that some of the players he had can only take us to equalling last seasons finish. He wants more and demands more, and although you can hear his frustrating when we don't win games. You can tell he knows we are getting stronger and closer to competing at the top end of this league. He is happy with the progress, happy with the foundation built and happy to keep to the plan and timeline

He has kept his big 3, signed a defender and extended a couple others. He knows exactly where he needs to add quality to turn loses into draws and draws into wins. And is already trimming the wage bill and squad to try to put the money in the right areas come summer. I know fans want to see ambition from the club, but MR is building and improving as a manager, improving the standard of squad and definitely created a very good team to watch. Couple more pieces and a few more months I'm sure we again will see strides being made. And from where we have been nobody can deny the club is moving in the correct direction.

When the accounts covering last season are published in a few weeks time we will all understand why spending has been reined in. We've not sold a player for a significant sum since McCallum too.

Small steps m8. it's got us this far, however 1 loan will/would be nice in the AM area.

I honestly believe that a tilt at the play offs this season will be as good as it gets, and though my head says we will fall short my heart is still hopeful.

However, I just can't see where we go from here, expecting the manager to operate with a paper thin squad and relying on recruiting from the bargain basement, (the manager, the coaching staff and recruitment team working miracles in my eyes), just isn't a model for taking the club forward and going backwards will see a decrease in the value of their asset.

I wasn't going to put this on here but I have heard a whisper they are preparing to sell, no idea how valid that information is, but hopefully it's the case.

Disappointed we didn't bring in more attacking options but we managed to offload a number who have no future here so that's positive.

Really angry though that we sold our best player because Boddy touted them in a match day programme....

Realistically there are two places to aim for 5th and 6th. The same target as anywhere between 6-9 other teams. A lot of the clubs around Coventry have spent and potentially over spent on signings which are very unlikely to work out.

Every season we kick on after Christmas, so stop moaning.

Financially, other clubs will be under hightened pressures and tensions which Robins is well able to work under, so stop moaning.

Top half of the league and still in the cup, you miserable bunch of negative bed wetters.

The football played this season has been jaw dropping. Oh my XXL shirt doesn't fit right. My mid priced lager in a plastic glass is too tepid.

Some of the gripes are unreal. It more than likely will never get better than this and yet the moaning continues.

Not really - his stock was fairly high when we signed him - it has fallen quite a bit since. I watched the first half v Charlton last night (he didn't do a lot, and was subbed after 70ish minutes). Haven't looked at the Pompey forum yet, but suspect they are already very meh about him.

Not disappointed, we’ve kept our backbone and main players.

Bidwell in - he hasn’t set the world alight but it’s early days and he has pedigree at this level.

I think most people here will have done some back-of-the-fag-packet sums and deduce that Bright’s wages, most of Walker’s and those of the DaCosta, Jobello, and the various youth fringe who have gone out will have (probably) exceeded those of Bidwell.

I get that there may have been some paying off of contracts but nonetheless, I can’t see that we’ve increased our playing costs since the closing of the last window. Indeed, it looks like we’ve reduced them.

I’m also certain we’ve had more gate, shirt and TV income than we’ve budgeted.

Maybe, the original budget plan was to sell off a big asset this window and by trimming the fringe we’ve avoided that?

So maybe a good thing?

That all said, totally surprised that we didn’t get a cheap, young-ish (but older) older u23 type striker
(like Reo Griffiths from Lyon (21., ex Spurs u23, Eng u20) who has just ended up at Doncaster. Not saying him, I know nothing about him (Maybe secret agent Gary McSheff. is turning Donny in to a CCFC feeder) but someone to bridge the gap between Tavares and the first team). We’re a bit short on forwards atm.

If that's a wind up I'm embarrassed for you because its shite.
If that's a serious post Im embarrassed for you because you'll happily except a transfer window that poor.
Either way, embarrassing.
