Top man Chris Stokes. Lovely for Josh that he responded.
Years ago in the 60's George Hudson wrote to me with his autograph when I was in hospital. :claping hands:

His handwriting is nice and a little childlike. I'm all illegible scrawls and finger cramps.

When he has come down to the family bit before the games he has been great with the kids. He usually gets swamped.

I might be cynical but I guess it was released to soften the impact of the "faggot text"

I'm not sure, because he did things like this and was great with the kids even before that.

but if you connect it to what Nick says it seems that his community effort with the kids is a long standing commitment and not a one off. The letter is part of that I suspect more than an attempt to deflect a twitter storm that few will remember in a couple of months

I would guess Josh and his family will always remember this and might even get his friends interested in CCFC if not already

At first I thought that was a letter from a child to a player. Fair play to Chris Stokes though.

That's the thing, he is going to be Josh's hero now and those 10 minutes probably made the kid really happy!

Good on Chris stokes. I find that most professional footballers at our level are open and friendly with fans...greater egos seem to develop higher up the football ladder.
This season my lad has wanted to arrive at the ground in time to see the away teams arrive. It makes it a long day but is always worth it. All of the teams are happy to sign autographs and have pics...and banter.

He is a good guy, I agree. I am not inferring he wrote it with any motive other than a nice letter to a kid.

Great stuff. Imagine getting a letter like that as a kid - Stokes will be his hero now.

Is this a response letter to what the kids write on the match day and te players reply to?

Fair play to Stokes for writing back with so much. Makes it so much more personal

Kids must love this!

A girl I know has two young boys who are City crazy and she takes them to every home game and wait for the players etc. One of the sons favourite player is Stokes and they've gotten to know him over the season and the end of the season Stokes sent the lad his shirt and she stuck the photos up on FB and the elation on the little lads face is a picture!!

She tagged Stokes in on the post and he commented back saying that he loved her kids reaction and that it was his pleasure and glad that her son liked it!!

He seems like a good lad in my book........

Good for him on sending this letter.

As for those who think he should get a pass on the Twitter fiasco because of it - well, I'm sure Marlon King was nice to kids a few times as well.

Oh look, he's just been charged by the FA too. This gets worse and worse.

I'm not sure it's getting worse, it all just seems like the slap on the wrist that was to be expected. The FA have to be seen to do something, but it won't go much further than it has.

On this subject although not entirely about Stokes, if anyone's little ones wrote to a player and are yet to recieve a reply, the family zone volunteers still hold a few that are yet to be collected.

If you know of a little who without a reply, you can email the club at JSB@ccfc.co.uk with your membership details to see if they have it.

Is it really comparable to Marlon King? Why not bring Jimmy Saville into it?

Marlon King has served three jail sentences, and has a number of other criminal convictions including: theft from a person and from a car, criminal damage, and attempting to obtain property by deception; fraudulent use of vehicle licence document, driving without insurance, speeding, drink driving; a wounding incident while playing amateur football, and two cases involving assault of young women rejecting his advances in the Soho area of London.

Chris Stokes tweeted one offensive word.

Probably both part of the same gang.

Judas. Plucked from non league obscurity and after one season in League One he's handed in that written transfer request trying to engineer a move to Newcastle?
