If we do go up, I just want one season where we finish 17th by the skin of our teeth on the last day. Then the circle will be complete and I can die happy

I agree with the OP. The response would be toxic. We know that because of what is happening at the moment. 13 point lead or not, it’s very rare anyone just breezes through a championship season. It’s probably the most competitive league there is. We built a lead. We’ve been drawn back to the pack. But we’re in an absolutely fantastic position but some can’t get past the fact we can’t just carry on blowing teams away.
Weve won 4 in 13 ?

My point is a phase like this was inevitable. As was the reaction to it. Didn’t expect people to be pleased but a bit of realistic thinking is needed. Not sure it’s relegation form either.
Relegation form is inevitable? We have 16 points from 13 games?

Sunderland have invested over £150m…. They are 16th in the current form table …. It’s that brutal the gap.

If we have a poor season and finish bottom I can guarantee this place will be toxic… the manager will be forced out, the players crap, recruitment awful, King a charlatan, Dr Clare will come in for stick again.

That’s the agenda some have on here …. They can’t wait to criticise.
I with you on most of this….but why would you want to criticise people? Let them stew in their own fat.

Its the idea that we shouldnt be concerned with where things are going thats getting me the most

Everyone’s concerned. Calling for the managers head, booing, constantly slagging off players when we’re still top of the league is a joke though

Not saying that’s you Evo but that’s whats coming for a chunk of our fanbase and I personally don’t see how its gonna help

Was thinking something similar. Most younger fans, have had nothing but relative success over the last few years; promotions, Wembley appearances, Cup runs.

I remember what being in the top flight wad like. Apart from the obvious 86/87 season, watching Coventry City was pretty rubbish. There would be the odd highlight, of course, beating Liverpool, United or Arsenal but most of the time we were fighting relegation.

Would be amusing how most of the feint hearts on here would have coped. Don't think the majority of you would. That's why I'm not slagging all the players off. Or the manager. Or the owner.

"When the going gets tough.." and all that.
I don’t want those days back. The last few years have been great. Sullied only by the off-field antics of previous owners. Not forgetting that we had to claw our way back from the depths as well.

For me it would totally depend on how the remaining 15 games go. If Boro and Ipswich finish above us after winning nearly every game and we fall just short of autos (playoffs a lottery) then I wouldn’t have an issue with Lampard staying. Its why I thought Sheff Utd should never have got rid of wilder in the summer

I’ll judge the team and manager on the season, it’s why I wasn’t planning the trophy parade after 15 games and why I’m not writing us off now

The way we are going they wouldnt need to win nearly every game?

Let’s just imagine we are promoted this season…. I don’t think a lot of Cov fans will cope with the reality of the premier league ….. it’s a brutal experience for most promoted teams ….losing most weeks, totally outplayed most weeks, rarely creating a chance

Our fans can’t cope with being top, and having a blip in form.

Yesterday we had over 70% possession, an XG of nearly 2, the opposition didn’t have a shot on goal and yet some fans boo, and come on to CWR and here crying like entitled babies.

God knows they would not cope if we went up ….
I think it comes from where we were in November. I hate the Prem league, but the destruction from not going up, will be chaos.

The context of how we played in the match

Not everything goes to plan in this league … I doubt Hull were thrilled with their result either.

I never thought we were a team that was going to run away with the league, if you did that’s on you.

Hull aren’t on the verge of the second biggest bottle job in football league history

Not sure what your point is. We’re top of the league. Did you expect we’d just walk it by 20-30 points?

Did you expect us to blow the lead we had?

Look through the league. Every team will have had a similar phase. That’s why we are top of the league. It is inevitable in this division.

when do you expect good form to return?

Ok point me to where Boro or Ipswich have had a point a game form over a 13 game period
Why aren’t they above us?? We’re talking about them like they’re global powers. The absolute facts are that we have more points than both. So I don’t really care if they’ve had a point a game over 13 games or whatever. Over the games played so far we’ve got more than them

Well consistency accounts for a lot more than short bursts of excellent form and then utter pish.

So you think we will have more points than them come the end of the year taking into account everything?
