Let’s just imagine we are promoted this season…. I don’t think a lot of Cov fans will cope with the reality of the premier league ….. it’s a brutal experience for most promoted teams ….losing most weeks, totally outplayed most weeks, rarely creating a chance

Our fans can’t cope with being top, and having a blip in form.

Yesterday we had over 70% possession, an XG of nearly 2, the opposition didn’t have a shot on goal and yet some fans boo, and come on to CWR and here crying like entitled babies.

God knows they would not cope if we went up ….

The blip in form is 41 % of our season so far ... 13 games

Total false equivalence based on nothing but speculation.

There is a pretty key contextual difference between the expectations of a team who were in a position ‘no-one has failed to be promoted from in 100 years’ and a team who would be favourites to get relegated from the Premier League.

You think our fans our support won't beable to differentiate between blowinga 13 point lead in the Championship and over 2 months without an away win, dropping points along the way to Blues, Charlton, QPR, Norwich etc and losing to some of the biggest clubs and most expensive squads in world football, haha!!

Getting promoted these days is about getting the £200m. What happens next is pure lottery.

Either you go all out like forest and Sunderland when promoted and do what it takes to stay in the prem or you do a Ipswich and Norwich and come back down and yo yo.

Yes that’s exactly what I think.

Some were calling yesterday’s performance rubbish, some booed …. Some clearly can’t see context

I’ve already said we could go down bottom for all i care. the money is the real prize. Achieving that is going to draw a lot less ire from fans than blowing a 13 point lead at the top of the table.

I've continously said I don't agree with booing, but other than that what context is there?

We've blown a great position.

The context of how we played in the match

Not everything goes to plan in this league … I doubt Hull were thrilled with their result either.

I never thought we were a team that was going to run away with the league, if you did that’s on you.

If we have a poor season and finish bottom I can guarantee this place will be toxic… the manager will be forced out, the players crap, recruitment awful, King a charlatan, Dr Clare will come in for stick again.

That’s the agenda some have on here …. They can’t wait to criticise.

You think we’ve drawn more ire from fans than Wolves this season?

Was thinking something similar. Most younger fans, have had nothing but relative success over the last few years; promotions, Wembley appearances, Cup runs.

I remember what being in the top flight wad like. Apart from the obvious 86/87 season, watching Coventry City was pretty rubbish. There would be the odd highlight, of course, beating Liverpool, United or Arsenal but most of the time we were fighting relegation.

Would be amusing how most of the feint hearts on here would have coped. Don't think the majority of you would. That's why I'm not slagging all the players off. Or the manager. Or the owner.

"When the going gets tough.." and all that.

Well its a totally different scenario. Its a totally seperate club. Wolves have been a consistent Premier League club for years, constantly asset stripped by the owners and nothing reinvested.

If we were to go up, for the first time in 25 years, most would be happy we had hit the financial windfall, would expect us to go down but give it a go.

Well maybe so.

I had been positive about our chances until the Blues game. It has been a spectacular failing this season. Should we get to the Prem, I'll enjoy the time there regardless of our outcome.

You didn’t think a team 13 points clear of 3rd were going to run away with the league? What a pessimist, eh!

I think if we finished rock bottom of the league then we would be mocked all season long. Doesn’t matter how long we’ve been out of the PL.

No, I dont think they would. Many, many fans on here, social media, CWR, etc have no perspective, no rationale.

The immaturity and breast beating of a good few fans is off the scale.

Third option is to go all out and still end up relegated. That is why clubs of our stature tend to be conservative to avoid financial meltdown.

It’s an irrelevant discussion in a sense but getting beaten every week will rapidly result in people whining and moaning. I can’t think of a single one of our players whose anywhere near PL level

I never thought we were either, but having got into the position we did I never expected quite a spectacular downfall.

As for context, a result like yesterday was always going to happen so not overly upset by it, but there's no context to the away form, it's relegation form, simple as that.

Think I misunderstood your original point, but regardless, if you think our fans are going to be placid if we spend all of next season rooted to the bottom of the table, I’d have to disagree.
They may not, but losing our 13 point lead is going to draw more ire from our fans. Its been a total collapse.

I agree with the OP. The response would be toxic. We know that because of what is happening at the moment. 13 point lead or not, it’s very rare anyone just breezes through a championship season. It’s probably the most competitive league there is. We built a lead. We’ve been drawn back to the pack. But we’re in an absolutely fantastic position but some can’t get past the fact we can’t just carry on blowing teams away.

Its more the relegation form, complete lack of momentum and terrible away results rather than us not blowing teams away.
