Which is why I don't think we should have abandoned that formation totally, I think it would have come in handy in some of the games we've struggled in away from home.
But Lampards committed to 4 3 3 so that's where we are.
Hopefully summer recruitment will help us in the type of games we struggled in going forward.

Once Wright and EMC were back he just didn’t seem to want to break up that three unless he was absolutely forced.

Sakamoto also hit some good form too. We had people calling out for 5-3-2 when we had no cover there or at RWB.

The run at 5-3-2 was a pleasant surprise but imo, we reverted back to 4-3-3 at the right time because it suited the personnel.

Let’s not forget we got great home results playing that system.

It's definitely the formation he wants us to play.
He said so recently during a Q and A that was something to do with the sponsors but it's not like it was a secret before that.

Obviously it's been succesful but there were just a few questions raised in the last part of the season.

Hopefully with the summer recruitment and a full pre season with the squad they can be ironed out.

Inmean if your game is around getting crosses into the box you don’t want to drop your wingers right? I agree I thought we looked better going more direct away from home.

I don't think there should be a set formation. Just the best one to suit the players available and some creative thinking in some of the matches particularly away against say Sheff Utd and possibly Ipswich.
At Sheff Utd we seem to turn up like lambs to the slaughter.

I'd like to think we will make the playoffs again next season but really need to see if we sign Peter crouch first to get onto the crosses

Or Duncan Ferguson sitting on Crouch's shoulders

Come August, if either Wilson or Collins is in goal for us, we aren't getting out of this division.
