I read the topics on here everyday but don't tend to post but i would like to share my view. I am trying to keep my 8 year old son interested in ccfc. I grew up watching a top flight team that had a fan base, an was able to attract a reasonable level of support after good sides it produced in the 70's 80's an 90's. But how does a club in the 3rd tier of English football attract new generation of support if it distances the currant fans ( the ones who suffer in all this row) by playing in Northampton. I blame both sides in the currant situation an there failure to put past events behind them an do right for the fans, club an city. I take my son to away games that we can attend an thanks to Steven pressley, an our 1st half of season free scoring form, Arron Phillips goal at wolves, maguire's free kicks at mk he's still a cov fan!!! He motivated me to take him to barnsley in the cup as he has the bug for ccfc, the players an the atmosphere we create at games like the second half at barnsley, an when Leon scored the winner!!! This great mentality Steven pressley has brought into our club an ability to come from behind to win games is enough for now to keep him interested an away from Chelsea, Man city, utd...... He even wants to play as ccfc on fifa, he is still proud to support cov when all his mates follow bigger clubs. But for how long!!! I wish I could of continued taking him to all our home games so he can watch this fantastic young team develop. Ccfc need to come back soon to keep players like Leon, Wilson, Murphy, fleck an Thomas at our club an to bring back better times we no!! How long will Steven pressley himself stay an keep on motivating our young squad to play at the heartless sixfields. ACL an SISU need to act soon to bring the heart of the club, the fans, generations new an old! PUSB

Agreed, this is where the club is failing, as potentially kids nowadays are not seeing their team play. My 11 year old remains a City supporter, however its a bind to get him to watch the game on TV, the only thing that keeps hm interested is attending games...

I have 3 lads, ones too young but as for the other 2, 1 supports UTD and the other Cov. The one that supports Cov is still really keen and is devastated that he cannot go to games this year, thats what really annoys me. We walked to Tesco at the Ricoh last weekend and for the whole journey he was recalling the times he had made the same journey but to watch a match, made his day that he got to see inside the ground as one of the main gates was open (pitch is still perfect by the way). I would like to know how many kids go to Northampton currently?? They used to do the school tickets at the Ricoh, I doubt that happens now.

Well, I relented just because I wanted my son to continue to see the Sky Blues. He's CCFC obsessed. I know people don't agree and slag me off, but I don't regret a thing. He'll grow up a Sky Blue.

I forgot to say and most importantly, he only knows the Ricoh as home, highfield road is just a name and pictures, the point is, this is his Highfield Road and cannot understand why CCFC cannot just play in their home ground, he now despises Northampton and wants them relegated.

I have considered going once or twice an said fancy going an my son replied no way, never in Northampton!! This is a 8 year old!! Even a 15 minute conversation with waggot an fisher on the train back from wolves could not change my mind. Fisher's persona is very smug an arrogant about the Ricoh situation. Waggot tho was pleasant to speak to, seemed genuine.

It is the youngsters I feell for the most, we have had, if in mid life now, some good times and good memory's ... but if you are a young adult, or child, 5 years will kill mosts keenness off and they will end up supporting another team, or another sport.

Sad really.

Completely disagree, Torchy's son wants to see his heroes playing in the Sky Blue and spend time with his Dad, he is at an age where Council's and Judical Review's mean feck all. To the older fans who can understand it's fine, but to the younger fans it harsh to slate.

Funnily enough my 6 and 10 year olds miss going to the footy with me and their granddad but theres no way ill take them to sixfields.

They'll remain sky blue without entering that dump.

Never mind doing impact reports for the 2 local authorities they are in contact with. They need to do one on the long term future of the club while it's being held for ransom in Northampton.

Take him to away games and even the odd one at sixfields. It doesn't do to be too purist about these things and raising the next generation of supporters is important work!

We should be on here talking about how well Steven pressley has done with limited funds, how well the academy is producing first team players. Having two strikers firing goals, what we have not had for years!! Not slating people for going an not going to watch cov. Everyone's got their own beliefs but if we want our kids to support our team we gotta keep them interested. If that's sixfields, away games only that's yours to choose! Me personally there is nothing more better than watching the highlights seeing you an your son jumping around with joy as the city score as the mrs looks over your shoulder an sees you an her little soldier.... The horror as he turns more an more into you!!!! PUSB

Taking your kids to the football is what us dads do and have always done,it's a generation thing.
My dad took me as a kid and I carried it on with mine.if it feels right and your son or daughter wants to go then go ahead.
Because if that stops we won't have any fans for the future,whatever that will be !
