The next six games for us, Ipswich and Boro, it seems like we’ll be the 3 at the top. When we come through this period there will only be 12 games left (other than Ipswich’s postponed game vs Hull) so thats why Im doing next 6 setting it into 3 blocks:
(Colours represent W,D,L in reverse fixture)
(Expected points is my guess how many each team will get from these fixtures)

Coventry

Norwich (A)
QPR (A)
Oxford (H)
Boro (H)
WBA (A)
Sheff U (A)

Expected points ~10

Leaves around ~68pts
Ipswich

Sheff U (A)
Preston (H)
Pompey (A)
Derby (A)
Wrexham (A)
Watford (A)

Expected points ~11

Leaves around ~61pts
M’boro

Preston (H)
Norwich (H)
Sheff U (A)
Coventry (A)
Oxford (H)
Leicester (H)

Expected points ~9

Leaves around ~61pts

Surely Boro would be 7 points behind based on those expected points?

Ipswich to only get 11 points from 6 fixtures? That's only 3 wins out of 6 games. .

They've just won 5 in a row haven't they?

Well, I hope you are right, because another 6 games scratched off and still 7 points ahead, would be fantastic.

If we are 7 points clear in 6 games… I’d suggest we wouldn’t be caught. I think it’s going to get a whole lot tighter … so hope you’re right.

Its just an estimate, and being more optimistic

They have won 4 in a row and it's the first time they have managed to string together more than 2 back to back wins all season. They are incredibly inconsistent, especially away from home and they have about 5 back to back away fixtures in Feb (including the cup which they were stupid enough to not get themselves knocked out of).

Ipswich to lose at home to PNE is an interesting take I’ll give you that. As is us failing to beat Oxford at home while beating Sheff Utd away.

Anyway, I’d be cautiously optimistic over getting 12 points from the 6 games and so being on 70 from 34 overall.

We really could do with picking up our away form again over this next block of 6. Could do with Wilder's lot collecting something against Ipswich this weekend, but Sheff Utd seem to have self destructed over the last couple of games (not helped by having an awful forward line - bar Bamford). I think Boro have the nicest run of fixtures over the next 6, and our home game against them is likely to be pivotal.

Preston have their CF banned again & are not in great form, so think that’s a win for Ipswich and Boro.
I would expect us to beat Oxford, but draw with SU.

Yeah, 5 wins in a row, including the cup win. That's what I meant.

They WERE incredibly inconsistent. For sure they were, especially earlier in the season. but this is a different Ipswich team now and they finally seek to have got their act together and got into gear.

I expect them now to win the league.

If we can come out of two away games 4pts ahead of Boro and then pick 6 up from those two home games I would be chuffed to bits

4 of those 5 games were at home to be fair Otis.

it is clear Boro at home is pivotal
difference between 3 points and 9 at this stage is massive
I really think it is winner takes all, with a draw leaving a fight out to the end

In that spell, interesting to see that Boro have four out of six at home - including the next two.
While we have four out of six away!!

Average league position of these 6 games for us is 14th, no idea what theirs is. Yes these are 4 away games, but 3 against the bottom half and one against mid table.

This is what I think:

Norwich (A) - W
QPR (A) - D
Oxford (H) - W
Boro (H) - W
WBA (A) - D
Sheff U (A) - L

11 points from 18 which would put us on 69 points

would bite your hand off for that

We also have a nice end to the season and would expect at least 10 points from the last 5 games

Wednesday H
Blackburn A
Portsmouth H
Wrexham H
Watford A

20 points from the next 13 games ahead of the last 5 I think will be enough especially with a win v Boro as we then go into the last 5 needing 10 or so more points which i cant see them beating

A win V Boro and hitting those 20 points sees us go into the last 5 on 78 points

For Boro to get to 79 before the last 5 they would need 27 points from the other 12 which is 8 wins and 3 draws with 1 defeat Whilst in the same period we would need 5 wins 2 draws and 5 defeats (weve lost 4 all season and 2 of those were v Ipswich, along with 2 3-2 away defeats)

Their last 5 are then as follows and for them a max 10 points
Portsmouth H
Ipswich A
Wednesday H
Watford H
Wrexham A

Boro at home is absolutely massive and unless we totally collapse a win there should be enough

It being a nice last 5 depends on what teams are playing for

More likely that we’ll play 2 teams scrapping for points (Blackburn & Pompey) and two teams trying to confirm a playoff place (Wrexham & Watford)

Trouble were experiencing, is that playing us , is the opposition’s cup final .
We have to raise our game now & show that we are worthy leaders & put these teams to bed

The pundits were putting a lot on our ‘declining’ away record but didn’t really account for the difficult games we had. We’ve played 8 of the top 12 teams away from home. By contrast, we’ve still got to play 2 of the worst teams at home (Norwich & Blackburn), and teams like Bristol City, WBA home form is in decline and finally you had Sheff U who have been crap all year.

Ironically, our two most difficult away games between now and Watford is not Hull. It’s Swansea and then QPR.

I’m sure if we had Sheff W, Derby, Blackburn and so on away in December, we probably win most of them.

Our away games all look winnable and on home form, Swansea looks like our most difficult away games until the final day. QPR

Norwich are now performing far far better than previously, I'd take a point but actually expecting to lose it.

Yes, but their best results have been away from home. Their home record under the new manager is 3-0-2, having lost v Stoke and Watford in their last 2.

Norwich are a relegation candidate team and it’s a game we need to winning. Same as QPR, they’ve really beaten anyone at the top end of the table either.
