Would absolutely love to be proved wrong..

I will feel a lot more confident if we are able to bring another couple of quality players in..

With Ipswich, they’ve only really caught up to us because their schedule has heavily favoured home fixtures and they beat us away.

The litmus test is Feb where it’s flipped. They’re averaging 1.33 per game away from home and of their next 8 league games, 6 are away. In their last 6 away, they’ve only won 2. More of that please McKenna!

Yes, but their best results have been away from home. Their home record under the new manager is 3-0-2, having lost v Stoke and Watford in their last 2.

Norwich are a relegation candidate team and it’s a game we need to winning. Same as QPR, they’ve really beaten anyone at the top end of the table either.

Bogey team, Monday night, opposition will probably do as the others have done and take things up a level. I'm not expecting much.

If we are neck and neck going in to April i will fancy us. We have 4 home games in April to get us over the line.

If you want to go up, you need to not have this mindset.

We’re a superstitious bunch on this forum. Norwich were a bogey team because they’ve been a much better team than us for (comfortably) a generation.

We’re winning the league, their right down at the bottom (teams around them have games in hand) and their home form has been bad all season.

If we can’t get 3 points here, when will we win at Carrow Road? Pretty much every game since December there’s been a few people saying ‘I’d take a draw here’. It isn’t good enough with Ipswich and Boro on our toes and this is exactly the type of games we need to be winning this season.

Another 4-6 win streak more or less confirms we will go up automatically this season. We’re 2/2 so far.

We were a goal and player up at Deepdale and still conspired not to win tbf.

True but at that time PNE had only lost once at home and had a top 6 home record (probably 4th iirc).

After Sheff W, Norwich have lost the most home games all season.

Which is true, but a large number of those home defeats came under a dreadful managerial appointment. Since that was changed it's improved significantly.

Being blunt, we somehow conspired to lose at Carrow Road despite being in front in stoppage time. That really was a 'if not now then when?' moment.

This is what I think:

Norwich (A) - W
QPR (A) - D
Oxford (H) - W
Boro (H) - W
WBA (A) - D
Sheff U (A) - L

11 points from 18 which would put us on 69 points

I look at that fixture run and feel that we should win all of them. A draw with Boro would be reasonable but it’s a game where we need to land a knockout blow to their automatic promotion aspirations.

WBA are sinking and Sheff U are in a weird place, two games we need to win.

I’m hoping this two game win streak will kick start our season after a disappointing December/New Year.

Norwich were better at that point though and it was a game they deserved a point at the very least, we got battered that game. The only shock was that it got to stoppage time at 1-0 up!

Be confident, we’re going to beat them.

The next six games for us, Ipswich and Boro, it seems like we’ll be the 3 at the top. When we come through this period there will only be 12 games left (other than Ipswich’s postponed game vs Hull) so thats why Im doing next 6 setting it into 3 blocks:
(Colours represent W,D,L in reverse fixture)
(Expected points is my guess how many each team will get from these fixtures)

Coventry

Norwich (A)
QPR (A)
Oxford (H)
Boro (H)
WBA (A)
Sheff U (A)

Expected points ~10

Leaves around ~68pts
Ipswich

Sheff U (A)
Preston (H)
Pompey (A)
Derby (A)
Wrexham (A)
Watford (A)

Expected points ~11

Leaves around ~61pts
M’boro

Preston (H)
Norwich (H)
Sheff U (A)
Coventry (A)
Oxford (H)
Leicester (H)

Expected points ~9

Leaves around ~61pts

Called exactly the amount of points we’d gain! Although you cant see which results I predicted (as the colours represent reverse fixtures just to reiterate)

Boro overperformed my expectations by 2pts

Even if Ipswich win their postponed game at Fraton Park they will have underperformed my predicted points for them

Now for the Next 6
Coventry

Stoke (H)
Bris City (A)
Preston (H)
So’ton (H)
Swansea (A)
Derby (H)

Expected Points ~12

Leaves around ~80pts
M’Boro

Brum (A)
QPR (A)
Charlton (H)
Bris City (H)
B’burn (A)
Millwall (H)

Expected Points ~11

Leaves around ~74pts
Ipswich

Swansea (H)
Hull (H)
Leicester (H)
Stoke (A)
Shef Wed (A)
Millwall (H)

Expected Points ~12

Leaves around ~69pts

I think its safe to say we can rule Ipswich out if they dont go on a mad run, and if we dont collapse again, I would add Millwall but I dont think they’ll keep it up plus with Ipswich having games in hand they may be able to claw it back however you still have to win those games which will be tough

Ben Bloom was saying usually average 2 points per game in hand so that would make it harder for Ipswich
Will they have the surge everyone expects? Not sure they are the danger

If they were awarded 4pts now due to 2 games in hand they’d be on 61pts (7pts behind us) so they’d still be a threat certainly, and if they win both it’d only be 5pts! Anything could happen though they may even lose both, or Millwall might pull away from them and pull closer to us and Boro in that case I’ll trade out Ipswich for Millwall

In the Championship anyone except for Sheffield Wednesday can beat anyone. Ipswich have to win 4 games more than us.

They have Hull, Millwall, Southampton, Birmingham and Middlesborough to play. That's 5 from 14 after the playoffs or top 2. It won't be easy.

I would be surprised if Ipswich lose 2/draw 3 of those 6.

I was guessing 3 draws: Hull, Stoke and Millwall
