Wonder how much of soon street would have to be removed to build there. Underground parking would help any concerns with that.Skydome and old IKEA building now that’s a stadium location.
You can’t demolish half of the city ffsWonder how much of soon street would have to be removed to build there. Underground parking would help any concerns with that.
Could also move the listed buildings as was originally done not sure.
Either way council won’t sign off on it since they want to build an art studio/museum there

Exactly my point, IKEA is a non starterYou can’t demolish half of the city ffs
I wouldn’t worry about it pal we all know it’s complete and utter rubbish Doug hasn’t got enough to buy players and a 40,000 ground would cost 100 million at least.I presume all those desperate for a city centre stadium are people who can easily travel by public transport.
Unfortunately many of us don't have that convenience and would dread trying to find a city centre parking space
You need to take a trip to the city centre and see how much of it is boarded off at the moment because they're demolishing it!You can’t demolish half of the city ffs
Great Pub in my day! However some wag took the S and the RE one night and upset a few peopleWe’ve had the butts retreat
“Hey guys you know that stadium we built with major roads all around that has huge traffic problems? Why don’t we make it 30% bigger and move it to the middle of the city??”
The football club is the major contributor to Fraser's bottom line at the CBS. This is a game of bluff but Doug as a responsible owner has to look beyond a lease deal. It would not be good business practice if he didn't explore all the options to maximise the potential now he has earned the good will of the fans. The ground could have been so much better but that's history that doesn't need digging up. The main stand has always looked like a bolt on that doesn't fit the rest of the ground. As long as the club stays within a couple of miles of the city who's bothered as long as it's a success. DK has to do what's best for the future of the club.
Trouble is where are they going to find a new tenant that will pay the type of rent that CCFC will have to pay,I would think that DK would try to tie the rent up with our promotion dreams, however the can get the WASPs back if they talk to the councilI know some people who’ve been on the tour and the guy showing them round is very pointed that Frasers make no money from hosting football.
The issue clearly is that they want a big increase and we are not in a negotiating position of strength.

No worries personally. By the time it opened I wouldn't be going anyway!I wouldn’t worry about it pal we all know it’s complete and utter rubbish Doug hasn’t got enough to buy players and a 40,000 ground would cost 100 million at least.
I agree with you! But I don't know what they consider how much rent they want off CCFC, is it currently about £1.2 million a year? Or would they be trying to get CCFC rent to be able to cover the current operating loss of the Stadium. If it gets too high then DK would have to think of alternativesI think the issue is the return they make is minuscule and they believe the rent is far too low.
There aren’t any but don’t worry grendel says we shouldn’t be interested in what’s going onI agree with you! So what happens to it if there’s no football? In about 5 years time there’s gonna be 2 40,000+ capacity stadiums with much better facilities than the CBS, much better transport links and effectively more money behind them. There is no plan B. Frasers know that. They also know they don’t need football there as it makes no cash for them. It’s not a good combination for us.
Would love to know what Frasers plans are for the bowl in that situation considering they couldn’t get any tours in after the exit fascio last time. There is no plan B. Frasers know that. They also know they don’t need football there as it makes no cash for them. It’s not a good combination for us.
"Sky Blues urged by fans to build radical new stadium, and the name will take your breath away…"
I'm led to believe there are gigs booked for the stadium bowl next summer. I got told 'you'll love who is at the Ricoh next summer' which could either be someone I actually like or someone I hateWould love to know what Frasers plans are for the bowl in that situation considering they couldn’t get any tours in after the exit fascio last time.
Sounds like both sides posturing to an extent

Of course it makes cash for the stadiumThere is no plan B. Frasers know that. They also know they don’t need football there as it makes no cash for them. It’s not a good combination for us.

Well we do have sole use of the place, that seems to have a cost associated.I agree with you! I’m not here to personally defend every story that the BBC publish about us, but you’re right that stories should include proper context, of course.
As I say, for a comparatively niche beat like Coventry City Football Club, I’m glad that we get journalists covering us at all, and the bar for newsworthiness is probably pretty low. This article about the stadium today pretty clearly meets it.
How many journalists do we have covering us full time?Describing CCFC as comparatively niche and any journalist covering us should make us grateful is a very odd take
35 years in the top flight
An innovator under Jimmy Hill
One of the best known names in the country now in charge
Bizarre
How many journalists do we have covering us full time?
It’s the second time you’ve quoted me already today, but thanks for keeping count! And you accuse me of hanging on your every word.
It’s your second post of the day I think!
Where did I say a journalist covers is full time. The face you think we are a niche football club that we should be grateful a dog shit journalist says anything about us … well what a massive impression you have of the club you claim to support
We've clearly had more national coverage in recent years and even more so since Lampard's appointment to be fair. It’s the second time you’ve quoted me already today, but thanks for keeping count!
It’s a serious question….we all love the club, but we’re still a second-tier side and like most other Championship teams we’re not exactly drowning in media coverage. People like yourself love to sneer about the occasional coverage from people like Gilbert, but take that away and what are you actually left with? Sky Blues Extra?
I agree! We've clearly had more national coverage in recent years and even more so since Lampard's appointment to be fair.
