The company I work for announced this morning that they're building a new head office and multi-purpose site in Ryton. Looking at the site which is just off the A45 between the London Road and the Oxford Road, I am wondering if the land they've acquired could have been fit to build a new stadium?

If a new stadium is to be built it has to be in Coventry pref within 2 miles of city centre, the whole point of match days is crappy old pubs you would not normally go in or street corner chippys, having a stadium even more inaccessable than the RICOH will be another white elephant.

There will be no new stadium !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say I had some 'hope' that there might be a new one but considering this news this morning now I am starting to believe there won't be this specific land would be fantastic for a new Football stadium had it been pursued properly.

Why would it? It's not in Coventry....

If I wish to haul my sorry ass all the way over to Cov to watch a match it'd better be in Coventry - not some backwater that has no relevance whatsoever to the club. (And you can take that to mean Northampton, Ryton or Timbucfriggintoo!).

There are a load of warehouses going up there as we speak, using up the remaining land.

Add in lack of leisure facilities, and lack of space to build leisure facilities (unless somebody fancies doing up the Bull and Butcher!) it's a no-goer, and was always going to be.

Fair enough thanks NW.

It's half a mile more than the Ricoh..

Which in itself leads to an interesting question about identity really, as to me Ryton sure as hell ain't Coventry!

Then again, to me, nor is where the Ricoh is(!)

Perhaps they should stick a ground up in Binley Village.

The things is realistically should we not return to the Ricoh for any reason and Sisu are forced to build a new ground what chances are there of them finding a site which is four miles or closer?

Why it would be sensible to petition the council for sites... I fail to see what objections there could be to having two successful businesses in the city, and if the stadium's a lie, then it cuts off a place for SISU to run. Out of uncertainty comes certainty...

As for sites? Well, until the Ricoh went up there, I'd have never considered that site. There was talk of Parkside being a potential site too (now that would have been great! Far better site than the Ricoh! Questions asked about why the Ricoh site probably valid at some stage...)

To be honest the fact that Northampton are 2nd bottom of league 2 and that SISU will not hold sensible talks with ACL/CCC or anyone else, or give any indication of where any new ground will be, makes me think that the plan is to amalgamate the 2 clubs as Northampton Sky Blues, or something similar.

I always felt that if we played 1 game in Northampton, we would never come back to Cov. I then hoped against hope I was wrong and that we would be back home for Xmas [Just like in the 1st World War] It doesn't look like that will happen and no sensible Cov alternative has been found,m so I see no future for the club in Coventry as things stand.

As I've said before I am quite happy for SISU to build a ground for us to play in. But they need to get a move on given how long it is likely to take. We need to be back in Coventry.

A 25000 stadium near the city centre, 4 unique stands, an abudance of pubs and takeaways nearby, why oh why was Highfield Rd bulldozed, just wish the Rugby club had bought it and we could of ground shared with them

Unfortunately there was a syncronicity around both Clubs and the demise of Manufacturing In the City ,one a metaphor for the other.

Ryton would probably be close enough for me for this mysterious hypothetical stadium of magic dust. I don't remember ever crossing that shitty roundabout and suddenly feeling like I'd stepped into another realm.

You've clearly never lived there!

According to Sisu the surrounding land needs to be developed with retail outlets.
This means it has to be viable to the public on non match days.

Would anybody travel over there to shop? Its bad enough going to PC world.

Can't believe people getting excited about a new stadium that will be initially be L2 standard.

When I look south from Beduth all rainbows seem to end over that way.

Could this be the start of Sisues first plan ?

But could you imagine thousands (alright maybe hundreds) trying to cross at the same time to get to a football match. It will be absolute mayhem and with more business sprouting up meaning more traffic. Not that I think for one second that Legoland will be built there or anywhere else for that matter.

Toll Bar End has major roadworks for the next 2 years.

Oh yeah it'd be a ballache, I just mean proximity-wise Ryton's just about close enough. It'd be similar to the Brandon site theorised, anything involving going across that bypass would be horrendous.

Sisu even if they are in the market to buy land they are unlikely to go for land that is in demand. Which by the looks of it the ryton land is in demand !!!

That happens everywhere...75k at Old Trafford, roads are closed for the fans to disperse quickly & safely.

Everywhere there is an established ground and has been in operation for more years than anyone cares to remember, judging by your post, you obviously think it will be a piece of piss to arrange something that quickly and for there to be no problems whatsoever. You must be shit hot at that sort of thing if you think that, what were you doing last weekend, sorting out air traffic control problems for the whole country ?

Just like doging traffic on the A444 by the Ricoh, never closed that off on match days, seen many a driver wheel spin off as fans still trying to get acorss that road.

Broadgate is a waste of space, how many times have they redeveloped it and still got it wrong.
Develop a new stadium there and it would be near enough for everybody to get there.

Seriously I cannot see CCC giving planning permission for another stadium inside the City boundaries,
why would they when the Ricoh was built for the Football Club.

I think CCC should actively seek developers for the land around the Ricoh, and only then should offer to sell the Ricoh without the freehold to CCFC.
