The new Kevin Drinkell …
Off to Sunderland now?
I’ll trust our staff if he wasn’t right for us , I’m also generally in favour of not paying over the odds in wages too although sometimes in football it does seem like you need to speculate to accumulate at times. But if it ain’t right that it ain’t right , there will be another one along soon enough

Will say two things - Fair play Gimoc and apologies seemed to get this one right based on everything.

Secondly, he’s a player with six appearances, needs a career lifeline, does he really get to demand high wages, bonuses and add ons. Especially when it could come at the cost of other players like Jeremy.

Maybe it still happens but understand the doubt the club would have. Still confused why this is brought up now tho if it’s not an obligation.

I’m still slightly puzzled why we want wingers first. For me central midfield and LB & RB take priority
It’s pretty simple. We can’t play the formation we want to because of 2 injuries.

We’ll be pursuing multiple targets and if @Jimmy87’s info is right, we are talking to a RB and a CM.

From a call this morning, this deal has hit the buffers , with bonuses etc being brouyinto the equation, instead of a person that hasn’t hardly played this season , being up for the challenge …….normal greed above talent continuing

He can't insist on bonuses - he has a contract with Rangers

Perhaps Frank likes to do deadline day business as it wouldn't matter if we sign 10 players in the window, some fans still get out of their pram if the lights aren't on at the CBS with hours to go and we're not doing any business. To me last day smacks more of desperation and not first choice targets or agents holding out and ripping us off as desperation sets in.

If he is trying to push for bigger bonus and extras time to move on. Not what we need

Not necessarily, plenty of players take a wage cut to go on loan.
no they don't, they'll be discussion over the % of wage paid by each club but the players original contract remains in place

Not always the case

That does say that was between him and Fulham

"But he was always confident it was going to get done. It was about finding the right deal between Fulham and himself, our deal with Fulham was agreed a while ago."

A contract is a contract, he is not likely to take a pay cut to sign for another club.

The negotiation is with Rangers though not us if that was the case
I realise that but there are people saying what is the issue if he's guaranteed his full wage anyway. That isn't necessarily the case.

We could still have agreed a wage contribution with Rangers and then have issues with things like goal bonuses if he has that in his contract.

Could he be haggling over the potential contract with us, should we decide to sign him in the summer. Would those discussions take place yet?

Or could he ask that they take place (the add ons & bonuses), so from his point of view he isn't wasting his time on loan with us when another club maybe prepared to pander to him.

I suspect sadly that in the background his agent was touting him around to the highest bidder - seems to me that is the way of modern football. I say sadly not in this specific case but more re football agents in general

He is guaranteed a full wage though. As per the terms of his contract.

The variable you bring in is a massive exception to the rule and pretty much never happens.

It's also irrelevant as he's not going to willingly take a pay cut to come here.
