So as discussed in the other thread, Noel Whelan has applied for a job as coach at CCFC. What kind of position do you think it is?

I would imagine there a two possible options. Either an attacking coach, which we've lacked for years. In fact can anyone remember who our last attacking coach was? or it could be for a youth team coach. With Carsley moving up to his position with the first team, will he still work with the U18s or does someone else need to come in and replace him?

If it's the former, then Whelan seems like a good match, especially as a former CCFC player which I'm sure Thorn mentioned a week or so was a big factor in bringing Shaw back. if it's the latter then I don't know how suitable Noel would be.

Are there any other good candidates out there at the moment? What about any that are ex-CCFC players?

What kind of coach would you like to see come in?

Harrison was brought in chiefly to add an extra attacking dimension to coaching but that never really materialised. I'd say a coach suited towards this would do us wonders if the benefits could be transferred to matches-never seemed noticeable while Harrison was here.

I would have thought that they would have spoken to Whelan about doing Carsleys previous role, however I would have thought Kilbane would do that now.

Shaw to work with defenders, Carlsey to work with midfielders, adn Whelan to work with strikers. Be nice to have specialist coaches for all positions, although i'm not sure Whelan has any or enough coaching experience to be classed as a specialist yet?

Ah yes i forgot about Bunn...Mickey Adams' long lost twin!

I don't think Kilbane would be able to take the U18s, at least not for their matches as they play Saturday mornings

Whelan holds a UEFA B coaching Licence. Whelan first started his coaching career as a player coach at Dunfermline Athletic. After his playing career came to an end Whelan worked as a youth team coach at one of his former clubs Derby County, but after more than 12 months as a coach at Derby, Whelan decided that his commute from Harrogate was too much of a strain. Since leaving his role at Derby Whelan has been involved in the hospitality circuit at another of his former clubs Coventry City.
On 17th Novemember 2010, Whelan revealed he has put his name forward for a role working within Leeds United's academy. Leeds are the club who Whelan supports and also he gave him the chance to become a professional footballer.
After playing and captaining Leeds United in the Yorkshire Masters Tournament, which Leeds won. Whelan revealed he was going to help coach at Derby County's academy after turning down a coaching role at Nottingham Forest.

- so far I've been treated poorly
- thank you very much I have my fingers crossed although it doesn't seem it's going to be good news .
- as was told thurs its not positive as they put it not even with academy ! And said they would get back Monday ?????
- I did mention they need to look at the creative side as 2 centre halfs as manager & assistant & carsley a def midfielder
