Coventry City allow manager Robins to speak to Huddersfield Town '"with great reluctance"

Coventry City have “with great reluctance” allowed Huddersfield to speak to manager Mark Robins.

The 43-year-old, who is five months into a three-year contract, informed CCFC that he wished to explore the possibility of joining the Championship club despite efforts to keep him.

Sky Blues Chief Executive Tim Fisher said: “We have had more than one club interested in Mark in the last few weeks and we have made every effort to ensure he stays with us.

“We talked to him at length today and he met the owner. Once we had done everything we could and it was obvious that he was still interested in talking to Huddersfield, we had no choice other than to let him do so.

“We are just hoping that when he weighs up his options and opportunities, he will see the great progress to date and the support he has from fans and management alike, coupled with the potential in Coventry, and decide to stay.”

This is a joke Fisher? He won't be welcomed back.

He is the Peter Odemwingie of football managers

If Robins turns them down now, me and a lot of others on here are going to have some serious grovelling to do

Can't see he'll stay if he's already in talks with them.

Be very interesting if he did stay now though. What would all the posters who called him a c*** and hope he'd die going to think then?

Sounds like he's not letting emotion factor into his decision. Just wants best possible way fwd

It could still be us

If he said no and wanted to stay? Of course he would.

Some brief yap about owing it to himself to sound them out blah blah and everyone screaming C-UNIT would change their tune and get on with it.

Fisher talked to him. He met Seppala/Noita.
He probably got hold of a clove of garlic and ran as fast as he could.
Schmoozed by by Fisher put under a spell by Seppala/Noita
that is an X-rated experience.
Anyone sane would run.

He can go fuck himself now. Hope Huddersfield choose someone else then we can tell him and his Sky Blue blood to fuck off anyway.

Really??? He's made his bed now most won't forgive him

Its a bit like the Odemwingie saga. Fans will be pissed off with him until he gets back into the team and starts scoring.

Robins will get on with his job if he opts to stay and once the wins come back and our season goes well he'll be loved and come the summer this saga will all be forgotten about

He'd be praised as a hero for sticking it out. He hasn't made a bed or burned any bridge until he signs a contract. People forget things quickly when the results come.

The truth is SISU have probably been head turned by the offer of say 250K compo..................you know, they don't give a fuck, never will and the sooner they leave CCFC and the City of Coventry will be a day too late. This will ultimately be down to the latest lack of ambition and short termism from a bunch of Mayfair hedge fund Coonts !! Its just another act in the 'slow lingering death'...........a play by Joyless the hardnose business woman.

Wonder how long it will take to find a replacement this time. If it takes them 6 games again we're screwed.

I'm sorry but people can't pin this on SISU. What exactly are they meant to do? As long as Huddersfield pay the full amount in his clause I will be happy with their role here.

huddersfield are a better proposition than CCFC at the moment, playing in the league above, financial backing from the owners etc - people can't forget he has done well for this club, turned us around, got us playing some decent football - even if we had beaten crewe and yeovil I still think he would want to see what Huddersfield have to say.

Roberto Martinez has performed miracles at Wigan, which is obviously going to draw glances from teams in a better position, and he said he was interested in Liverpool, he spoke to Villa, but chose to stay - I for one wouldn't blame Robins for seeing what they have to say - he is one of the better managers we have had in recent times, so calling him a C*** etc, is hardly going to make think I want to stay with Coventry, and take them up and build on the good foundations I've lay

Hardly, if he rejects them then all he has done is asked to see what they were proposing

Did Wigan fans hold it against Martinez when he had talks with Aston Villa and Liverpool?

When will (the Royal) We accept that the emotion that We feel for CCFC in most unlikely to be reciprocated by any player or manager that comes to the club?
The football world is just the same as any industry...loyalty to "the Boss" or "the Company" is only valued until they want rid of you when it suits them. That's why we move jobs... it suits us better (& bugger loyalty!)...football is only different for those employed in it because of the publicity it generates.

IF MR goes let him go with our blessing...he has bought us the happiest spell we have had for what? 5? 10? 15? 20years?

Either way...& as frustrating as it is - us ranting will not majorly influence the future, & certainly will not change the past. Once he's gone...get over it! Get behind the team & caretaker/new boss.

I think what SISU did to this club was disgusting.

However, this is categorically not their fault.

Mark Robins; No Loyalty, his position is untenable even if he (which he wont) turns Huddersfield down could not support a Manager who does not want to be here.

Makes me sick to think of the bullshit he has fed us.

How many of us pledge our love for our workplace only to leave a few weeks later?

Leave with our blessing? At most companies now when you resign you are escorted off the premises that day! No company sends off their ex employees with their blessing.
