They must rate Delaney as I thought Strachan would be a real coup

Is this the same Strachan that said playing against 9 men was more difficult than 11 m8?

I am happy to let the club decide who should get the job. It feels like Delaney has stepped up during Pre season perhaps to see how he gets on?

Not sure why some are turning their noses up at him? He played for Cardiff, Villa and Wales. 14 years at Villa coaching before coming to us.

With two new coaches already in he gives a bit of continuity, knows our journey and what the club is about and will have already established relationships with the players. Also the club already know what they are getting and what he is about. So there are some advantages.

I wonder whether the panel have differing views on the next appointment ….

It’s taking quite a long time for an internal appointment …..

Robin’s clearly wants stability and Delaney offers that but is he the very best we have attracted ??

The best in what way? The job description was pretty extensive. So all candidates will have their strengths and weaknesses.

Also if they are appointing externally the club may have to negotiate with another club over that persons existing contract?

. Yes probably didn't really express what I mean't. What I should have said if fans were given a list of candidates we probably would not be able to say who the best candidate was?Because most fans don't watch coaching sessions or understand what goes on. It would be based on what they knew about them as a player or their profile.

It would not be based on coaching ability or ability to meet the extensive job description? I for one don't understand all the aspects of the job description. So when the club announce the appointment I will have to accept they have appointed the most suitable candidate for the club and their reasoning will be based on a wide range of skills and experience.

The best fit capability against the criteria set out, like in any proper interview ….

Could be ex city Rolland Niilson.

An ITK on Twitter (if there is such a thing) saying he’s applied.

My second favourite City player of all time. Oozed class. I'd love to see him back in some capacity

I was in Sweden not long ago and was told that he owns a small restaurant and isn’t much involved in football … could be wrong

All time favourites who ooze class don't necessarily make the best managers/coaches.

But nothing dramatic is it? I have chaired loads of interview panels where the job requires an expansive level of skills. Rarely do the panel fully agree. But after an adult conversation and analysis of skill sets, there is usually a clear candidate

I think Dempster has managed in L1 or L2 so been around a while.

41-year-old Dempster joined the Club in February 2020 as Lead Professional Development Phase (PDP) Coach and Senior PDP Coach in 2022. In that role he led the Under 21s to Professional Development League victory in 2022/23 and the final of the Birmingham Senior Cup, and has also spent previous periods supporting Mark Robins and the coaching team at Ryton.

was Adi Head of coaching then? or are we still expecting some form of assistant manager do we think?!

Suppose it’s similar to a few top clubs now that have assistants rather than a clear number 1 and 2

It says at the end of the article that these two are being appointed instead of a lead coach

Dempsey had already stepped up when Dennis Lawrence left anyway, so fair do’s.

Ah yes. John Dempster. A stalwart of my Rushden & Diamonds Championship Manager side circa 2001.
If I were Robins I’d sell him immediately and sign Taribo West.
