I see SP in the same kind of light as Brendan Rodgers. You have two strikers who bring you a great
run of form, create excitement and while we leak goals we score more and things look good. Then it transpires against you and you lose said two top strikers completely and what are you left with? How do you replace that? Unless you get lucky then the hunt is on but what you bring in (Balliotelli/Madine) while the best quick shout you can make it fails to enlighten your position. You continue the policy of bringing in the youth to the first team and get slaughtered for it but the odd gem comes through (Haynes) and you keep up your belief. You change the way we play because of the loss of those stirkers but that fails to bring the best out of everyone as before.

So do you sack Rodgers/Pressley in the wake of disgruntled fans or wait and back him in January with a few new faces and see what can be done?

You can't be serious Pax? Why don't you compare the career records of the two and get back to me.

Why not get Alexander from Fleetwood Town. Done well and seems to get the players going. The majority of his players are from non league and want to play for him.
Local lad, I know he is settled in the Preston area but we need someone to motivate cheap players (as he has done) and we havent bought someone for years.
Fleetwood have a bigger budget but his Dad told me that its all well and good but Coventry go after a player and they do theres only one winner thats us as were are the "bigger club".
Fits the bill for me and Sisu, cheap, can use his skills on lower league players and he fooked Barton back to us a he wouldnt go forward and just went in circles that SP cant see.:claping hands:

Not a bad shout that. A wage increase might tempt him. I doubt his pay packet at Fleetwood is much so that gives the advantage to us. I'd assume SISU are willing to pay compo like they did with Pressley so who knows, maybe Gary Alexander could be the mad. But I don't like to speculate while SP is still in charge

I doubt we would get any "big name" with a proven history. There's perhaps the idea of a challenge, but when you look at the hurdles - 3rd tier struggling outfit, disgruntled fans, an untrustworthy owner, no concrete income streams to finance proven players, no proper "home".

If you were any good you'd wait a few weeks for the Leicester job.

Would it not be Tony Pullis' name on the next contract for that one though?

He would be my vote, spoke about him on here the other day. Done well so far in his managerial career and already has a promotion under his belt. Doubt Fisher or Waggott would have the nous to actually think outside the box and get him in though unfortunately. We will be stuck with Pressley until we are down.

It's all very well people saying "get such & such in" and "Let's get so & so". The fact is, Sisu hold the purse strings and make all the decisions. As much as you might dislike or disagree with Elvis, we're stuck with him! He ain't goin' anywhwere soon! He's marked his territory! He da man as far as he knows! Live with it!

Exactly what plan is that? Play worse every week until we are relegated and sell all our best players at the end of every season?

He talked about retireing before taking the Palace job, I suspect one more crack at the Premiership was just too much to turn down. With another decent payoff in his back pocket he'll be on route to Cornwall to sit on his tracker as we speak. There is absolutely zero chance he'd even consider coming here given our circumstances.

i liked the long term plan idea, but agree with what you say.....SISU need to support the long term plan with the retention of better players, giving the manager a chance to build a team and a system. Certain players will be sold that you can't avoid. But at the minute if another team wants to pay some money they are out the door.

So there is no long term plan to support, at the moment we are in crisis management, sell and just get bodies in to make up the numbers.

Looking at our team, Warnock would be able to get more out of these players than most. Madine and Nouble are a definite Warnock-type strike force, J o'brien is a Warnock type, Reda would fit his style and so on.

Warnock gets teams promoted by battling. Doesn't cut it in prem but could get us up at the top end of the Champ.
SP would actually make a good assistant or joint manager (think JS/GC) and bearing in mind we would have to pay him anyway, may as well keep him.

Won't happen - just musing.
