Breaking it down,
Bringing in Rushworth as a replacement for Collins, even though he's not made a particularly brilliant start. POSITIVE
Signing KKH so we're not relying on MvE being fit for 50 games a year. POSITIVE
Brau in, with Bidwell looking increasingly like he's deteriorating, but probably could have done with offloading him as we don't need 3 senior LB's POSITIVE
Woolfenden replacing Binks POSITIVE
Selling Sheaf. He's had injury trouble last couple of years and has been superceded by Grimes as a 6 and Torp as an 8 so getting a reported £6.5m for what is now a squad rotation player is a decent fee. And if that is the role then Eccles is more than capable of filling that gap in the squad. Sheaf can't shoot for toffee and arguably slowed down our attacking play, but when fit and playing his best he's very good. If we were going to lose one of the higher value players, Sheaf would have been my pick. POSITIVE, JUST
Loaning out Bassette, Obikwu and Dausch with no incomings. Good for the players as to be fair none of them were going to feature much in squads, let alone get minutes on the pitch. Still have Simms and BTA as back-up strikers but somehow still feels like it leaves us light in the striker department. SLIGHT NEGATIVE.
Loaning out of Raphael. Though he's far from a starter, he has been a bit more involved and gave some sort of creative option off the bench. Now relying on moving our best striker or a LB to LW if EMC gets injured, and we've got a CF filling in at RW which seems to be working at the moment. Other than that we're looking at RB's to replace Sakamoto. NEGATIVE.
We're really relying on us not picking up many injuries or suspensions to our first XI until Xmas.
So in conclusion I'm happy with what we've done. It just doesn't quite feel like we've done enough though and needed a couple more in.
