Transfer Rumour MVE to Wolfsburg (95 Viewers)

I think at this point I’m totally relaxed about it either way. If he goes his replacement is already in, we get a decent fee and I trust us to get at least a loan in for backup. If he stays and continues the form he’s shown in the first few games then that is also a positive. KKH will still get plenty of game time and means we can rest MVE more to keep him fresh.
Spot on.

I'll be very happy if we keep MVE. If we get about 10m for him that's 2 to 3 players we could bring in. We're still a selling club. We're just more select on who we sell now.

Other than MvE who is important who has a year left after this? Saka maybe. Simms and Sheaf once upon a time but probably not going to raise huge sums now. I think we’ll be OK.
Haji, Thomas, Kitching? EMC and Torp both have 18 months. Regardless what you think of them they will need replacing and the money has to come from somewhere.

Haji has another year option. Thomas and Kitching maybe if you see them as top players we’ll make big money on. January signings sign .5 contracts so don’t run out until the following summer.

the stalling suggests that there is a sticking point in the final terms - Maybe Doug is trying what we did with Gyokeres and get Wolfsburg to pay Heerenveen's 10%

The sale will probably still go through

I thought all pre-season he would stay and I am still sticking to that opinion

Think he will still go and hopefully for 10m as we need this to fund other players can't see KKH being happy as he was probably expecting MVE to go I think that's why we bought him.

This

We also bid 5.5 for Rushworth
Exactly mate. It's not something you do if you are relying on sales. Doug has a bit of cash there for Frank, its pretty clear. We may have to recoup some with a sale next summer possibly but we have a lot of valuable and semi valuable assets so its not a big issue.
I honestly don't mind either way if MvE goes at this point, i know we'd get someone exciting in if he leaves, but also he looks better than ever right now so if he stays, great.

I doubt it. I'd say £12m is about his ceiling in this league. He's unlikely to sign a new contract also.
I certainly don't think we lose much on the fee. If clubs want a player football lives very much in the here and now these days, they aren't going to wait a year... or at this point 2 years!! It's not something i'd be concerned about right now.

If this does go through we will have had around £50 million come in via transfers and add ons in the last few years. Imagine being told that 5-6 years ago.

We bid for Hughes and Woolfenden, you don't just do that if you 'might' sell someone. The money is clearly already there for the CB at least. It'll be fine, relax.

I think people are very much still in the SISU mindset.

As a club I don't believe there's a definite need to sell anymore, not unless it's for the right price or if a player asks to leave / his contract is running down.

Hence why no owner with half a brain would ever operate on the basis of spending money they don't have because a player might be sold for big money.

There's clearly money there to spend, we're just operating in a difficult market as we're now chasing premium players which clubs don't want to let go.

Hardly 4D chess is it.

Clubs are constantly talking to multiple players for the same position just in case they can’t land their primary target.

This then gets leaked by one side or another to strengthen their hand in the negotiation.

It’s pretty route one really.
