Yes I did think £6m would be sort of the fee, anyone expecting double figures was going to be significantly disappointed. Its clear he was earmarked for sale, and as the window progressed our demands would drop.
It’s taking the piss to be honest, compared to the types of fees you see flying around for certain others. Though the source is GIMOC, a lying piece of shit at the best of times.

Unfortunately he's a right back, and there isnt a huge demand for them.

We’ve been hawking him around at £10m for ages with no takers, and ideas we were going to get eight figures were fanciful.

I'd be very surprised if it was as low as £6m. Not sure why we're believing GIMOC all of a sudden.

Think about it logically before taking posts at face value.

We paid nearly £4m. SC Heerenveen will retain a healthy sell-on fee, and when you include his contract during his time here that will leave basically nothing in terms of profit.

It wouldn't be worth agreeing to.

Profit is irrelevant if we need the cashflow.

Gutted to see MVE leave loved having him at the club. First time I seen him look not his usual self in the friendly at the weekend but that might be me just looking into things too much. Wonder if that’s the last time he wears sky blue. KKH is definitely an upgrade I’m just worried about injuries we don’t have the backup to replace and don’t get me started if we have a CB injured

Is he definitely an upgrade?

Who says the club desperately need to sell to support cashflow?

It's all speculative rubbish at this point.
Well it is speculative yes thats the point. But if the fee was £6m that would explain it. We quite clearly planned to sell MVE this window hence we signed KKH

I think it's been alluded to previously that the club clearly operates on a model of bringing in exciting young talent with a view to developing over a period of a couple of years and if we're not in the PL by then, DK will say we won't stand in their way if they wish to secure a move to a higher placed team either domestically or overseas and the right fee is tabled.

I suspect that's why MVE is being moved on. Not because of some kind of SISU-style fire sale.

No its not a fire sale, but a squad of our size isnt big enough to house 2 quality RB's. We cant afford that luxury.

Under previous regimes he would be sold cheaply with no replacement. We have had his replacement here for weeks and already prepared for him to leave and can then improve other areas of the team too

At the very least, he's a better defender. MVE is overall a better attacking threat but KKH is younger and has developed rapidly so we've not done badly at all.

Not quite the same comparison, but when Brentford replaced Watkins with Toney, it was a "downgrade" but everything worked out fine for them. It's a reality we have to deal with and even part way through last season many people felt that COH was better than Rudoni. That changed sharply after the new year.

No, but I think we proactively looked to secure KKH and it was likely understood internally that MVE was off. Him signing on with a new agency was a huge indicator of this.

Also, that move was potentially fast tracked as it wouldn't shock me if we got him on a better deal if we bought him before Villa's PSR deadline.

DK has always spoken about bringing in players if the deal was right.

Yes which is what I've said all along? We always had MVE earmarked to go, especially considering KKH came in.

6-8m is what MVE is worth. We’ve probably got lower end as teams have seen we’ve bought KKH. So we need another RB now. If, as seems to be the steer on here, they don’t fetch much it shouldn’t be an issue.
