As a player though I imagine you look at the team you are joining and think "Am I going to get a game". We have a very strong first 11 so you would think anyone who joins will accept that they aren't just walking into the starting line-up. KKH as an example. Likewise, if you bring in someone superior to a position we have, you risk ousting a player who is playing well. Tricky.

Thats Kai Andrews, no? Just because we didnt spend money on him doesnt mean he's not a squad addition.
Unless he suddenly goes on loan in the next few days, looks like he's going to see minutes this season.
Raphael will see minutes too, he was bought in with potential to realise, still only 21yo.
KKH is succession planning, so was Bassette, Brau too to an extent.
They haven't all come off perfectly yet, but doesnt mean we aren't succession planning.
We had a playoff achieving squad plus Kai, Raph, KKH, Brau and Bassette as the intended developing pack. Thats us planning ahead.
We're still desperate for a good-right-now CB though.
