That's a shock, first few episodes were ok some good one liners but I wouldn't have it as the best

21st century? So, only 16 years to select from, but still, there must be something else surely.

I do not find Mrs. Brown's Boys funny at all. Every joke is incredibly telegraphed and then thickly layered and milked to ensure you get the joke.

I just find it very old hat (swearing apart).

Awful, awful "comedy".

For me the IT Crowd should've won that. Loved Car Share, Peep Show, The Office and Green Wing too.

I'd have had Early Doors and Derek in there too

The Top 20 for anyone interested:
The top 20 comedies
1 - Mrs Brown's Boys, BBC One (started 2011)
2 - The Office, BBC Two (2001)
3 - Peter Kay's Car Share, BBC One (2015)
4 - Count Arthur Strong, BBC Two (2013)
5 - The IT Crowd, C4 (2006)
6 - The Thick Of It, BBC Four (2005)
7 - Gavin & Stacey, BBC Three (2007)
8 - Miranda, BBC Two (2009)
9 - Raised By Wolves, C4 (2015)
10 - Outnumbered, BBC One (2007)
11 - Peep Show, C4 (2003)
12 - Black Books, C4 (2000)
13 - Green Wing, C4 (2003)
14 - The Inbetweeners, C4 (2008)
15 - Bad Education, BBC Three (2012)
16 - Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights, C4 (2001)
17 - Yonderland, Sky1 (2013)
18 - Twenty Twelve/W1A, BBC Two (2011)
19 - Benidorm, ITV (2007)
20 - Detectorists, BBC Four (2014)

Really?

The Inbetweners would be my choice from the 21st and even that has a long way to go to my all time favourite of Porridge.

How was it decided? If it was a poll then fair enough as it's a hugely popular show. If it was judged, ISIS have won.

I absolutely loved the Thick of It but can also see how it might not have a mainstream appeal.

I thought Inbetweeners and Phoenix Nights would have been higher.

You know its not a true reflection of comedy when Benidorm is in the top 20.

I don't personally see the Office as a sitcom, but if it is, it should be at least eleventy billion places higher than Mrs. Brown's Boys.

My top 7:

The Office
I'm Alan Partridge Series 2
Early Doors
Operation Good Guys (think series 2 and 3 were 2000 onwards)
Peep Show
Phoenix Nights
The Thick of It

Miranda, Peter Kay Car Share and Mrs Brown's Boys are dreadful.

No, but the hilarious Miranda is on there. I am just gutted that Citizen Khan is missing from the list.

Surely the inbetweeners should be top of that list?? In my eyes anyway. Mrs. Browns Boys is a shit/poor man's Mrs. Doubtfire

Inbetweeners would be my vote. So brutally funny and relatable.

Twenty Twelve and W1A were ok, but everyone was playing the same character.

Inbetweeners would get my vote too, pretty much WAS my school life. Everybody had a mate like Jay and Will at school.

I don't get the appeal of Mrs Browns Boys at all.

If anyone hasn't seen it I'd highly recommend number 20 on that list, Detectorists.

Others mentioned on here so far are good too

Went to the Nec and saw it live. I really enjoyed the first series on TV. However, this is didn't enjoy at all. It was all the old jokes rolled into one show. Nearly fell asleep.

The Royle Family would piss on most of them listed and should have been included due to having it's last show in 2000.
I'm guessing the specials didn't count.

No, because they only made albums and never a sitcom, though Ghost Town, with a main character named Rudi might have been a novel concept.

I don't get the humour. Most of the Mrs' family love it, I just sit there looking bored as anything.

Not being funny here (no pun intended), but I told that joke about 4 years ago when I was doing a stand up routine for a YouTube thing. I have proof too!

Therefore, I should have the award.

Anyone who liked Mrs Browns Boys and Miranda I would struggle to get on with.

I liked Car Share. Not up there with Phoenix Nights but still an easy watch and had some funny moments.
