In the past 15/20 years aside from McFadzean who would you say is a modern day legend, maybe Kelly, Doyle and Julian Gray

Doyle is a legend. Not the greatest player, but we miss a lairy little bastard like him.Always in the refs face, and winding up opposition players with little digs etc.

Large chunks of the L1 side will always have a place in my heart TBH. Even players like Walsh who were barely here or Dabo who was immense that season. Same with the squad that almost went all the way last season, and doubly so for those in both.

True legend status is hard, I’d say Doyle, Fadz, Godden, Gyokeres will always be remembered for character and goals respectively. You just can’t argue with 50 goals in <150 games in the modern era. Kelly on the pitch has done loads but quite quiet off it which makes him less memorable than Fadz or Doyle. Great meme though that will probably outlast him. Matty Godden will be the one in the history books the longest IMO.

Robins and Viveash only for me in the last decade.

Not only for their consistent achievements but importantly for their tenure.

I’m not sure I would have any player in the last decade but McFaz would be a greater shout than Kelly who has struggled at Championship level to make a consistent impact through injury and form.

Legends status should be reserved for those whose contribution you will still talk about 20years plus from now imho.

Doyle was a big part of McNulty coming I believe which was pretty important. McNulty was to our league 2 season what Godden was to our league 1 promotion season. A stretch to call McNultys goals Doyles achievement I admit, but vital nonetheless.

Goddens name now goes next to the likes of Gibson and Dublin, that's illustrious company.

Gyok and Hamer super important. Those fees are huge to us and have allowed us to build and continue to build a competitive squad moving forward. Ultimately could lead us back to the Prem.

I wouldnt class Hamer or Gyokeres as Legends, probably cult heroes same with Dabo and O’hare. O’hare is one however who could propel to legend status in the future

No chance.

for this to happen Godden would need to be outstanding in the championship.

Was talking purely in terms of his 50 goals.
Obviously he's not done it against the same calibre of opposition.

Since our fall to League Two there have been plenty of huge contributions;

- Doyle
- Kelly
- Willis
- McFadzean
- Godden
- O’Hare
- Hamer
- Gyokeres

All of these players have been hugely significant in taking the side to another level.

Hamer and Gyokeres might not have got us to the Prem, but their performance level and transfer fees received have turned the clubs’ fortunes around.

Hamer and Gyokeres would make it into my all time CCFC team if that's a criteria for being a legend - and before I'm accused of being someone who only started watching us in the L1 days - my first match was in 1981!

Mcsheffrey
Fadz
Kelly
Godden
Robins
Doyle

Hamer
Vik
Ohare
Westwood

These 4 haven’t quite made legend status , ohare could still if he signs a new deal.

Doyle had one good season with us in reality and was paid a lot of money in his first spell while achieving very little. Robbie Savage had all the “qualities” you describe

There is no chance Hamer is one of the best midfielders we’ve had in 40 years really Is there.

Any goalkeeper who has scored with his cock, thereby enabling a shot at getting to within a penalty kick of the promised land, is a modern day legend.
Fact.

The Pressley team as a group playing in Northampton with a points deduction deserve a mention. Played some hugely entertaining but largely unwatched stuff. The likes of Wilson, Clarke, Moussa.

Surprised Kelly isn't down as a certified legend.

Was vital in promotion from both League 1 & 2.

Came back into the midfield in the first season in the Championship and helped keep up us.

It looked over for him last season and he came into the side and helped us get one kick away from the Prem.

Been way more important to the club than some of the others mentioned - even if they are better players.

'Legend' should be a seriously high bar and i'm not sure anyone has really hit that for us in the period described other than McFadzean and Dean Gordon. Gyokores is a better footballer but did he spend long enough here for 'legendary status'? Put it this way, if we were going to put more players up around the outside of the ground who do we think would get a place alongside Oggy, Curtis etc?

I'd make honorable mentions for the likes of Hamer, Gyokores, Godden, McSheffrey but i don't think i could really call them club legends. I think there's potential in the current squad for one or two to go on to that sort of level though.

I am surprised then that they would get into your all time team. Dublin, Gibson, Regis, Hunt, Boating, MacAllister, Robson just off the top of my head would be well ahead of them. Probably quite a few more.

Original post states last 15/20 years.
That's basically the non top league years.
I'm sticking with a cock scoring goalkeeper and Max.

Yes but Danny Thomas was saying they would make his all time team from 1981 onwards.

They would obviously get into any post top league team.

In terms of a 3 man midfield I'd go with Hamer, Boateng, Hunt. That's assuming a 4-3-3. I just think Hamer has that special factor as a true 8. Completely realise that very good arguments could me made for other players with very different qualities - just my opinion.

Forwards love Dublin and Wallace. But Gyo in his final season was the most unplayable forward I have seen in the shirt - for me there was another dimension to his game.
