Thank God we played MK before this game, the confidence they'll take from this.

They are in meltdown. To the extent that the MK Dons match thread had 3200 posts before it crashed. Can't see it anymore.

Winning at Old Trafford should really do us for a decade or so, particularly as we did it when it meant something.

Wow. I stopped reading after enough of them blamed the match on "second string rejects." And they still have no respect for teams in the Football League!

Laugh-out-loud, also I am rolling-on-the-floor-laughing.

Is contempt an emotion? Where's THAT emoticon?

"Van Gaal is a coach of great distinction and achievement but performances like this undermine the credibility of his 3-5-2 system which needs abandoning sharpish."

Man United's first XI is pretty poor, even on paper. It's nothing like the team of ten years ago. Fergie did wonders to get anything from many players in the current squad which really shows just what a brilliant manager he was. To then go and field reserves and youngsters though against MK Dons in the League Cup when even their first XI would have struggled against a strong MK side, I think was just slightly cocky and ambitious.

Granted, the LC may not mean a great deal to Man Utd but let's face it, I can't see them with a great chance of winning any other silverware this season so perhaps they should have approached this fixture with a bit more sincerity.

All in all, it's a great result for MK Dons regardless of what team Man Utd fielded (just like it was for us when we beat them 2-0 with two Mifsud goals). I think MK will have a decent season and be in contention for promotion come the end of the League 1 season.

Man United, well, they just need a uber-clearout. There's about 10 regular players that aren't even worthy of playing for the club to be honest. Every other team knows this so they go into any game against United with confidence now. And it costs United...

Like I've said (about a million fucking times) it's a formation for certain situations. You don't need to play five at the back against a team we drew 0-0 with. You play 4-3-3 with Welbeck, Hernandez and Zaha up to and you win the game 3/4-0

With that front 3? Do you really think so?

Yeah Welbeck and Zaha pushed right up against Baldock and Lewington, getting to the byeline and putting balls into the box for Hernandez. Last night Welbeck and Hernandez didn't get one good ball put into them (much like our strikers at the weekend), they received the ball with their backs to goal and MK were rarely stretched.

It is all down to the formation, we have one thing in common with United - that is we don't have the players to really maximise the 3-5-2/5-3-2 formation. It is a specialist formation that I believe, shouldn't be played every game. We should revert back to 4-4-2
