Great Ball from Torp for Ellis to just take the shot

Torp carries the ball a very fair distance to even get in the position. A big difference from last season.

Thomas’s shot for the third was an excellent clean hit as well. He certainly has an eye for goal

Controversial...I thought the 2nd was better.

That ball from Grimes was world class and the header was powerful and well placed.

With all due respect there’s a reason Sky didn’t replay that goal eight times from different angles on socials.

Kitching's fitness level is immense. He had to put in a long shift at the back. But was in the box for his second and then played in JDS to set up the 4th. He may not be the fastest and this level as high as he can go but his stamina is astonishing

Thomas looked knackered..Kitching carried us last night.

I wonder just how many points we would have dropped without Rushworth, promising tho Dovin is. Is he the 10 point gap?

It's the confidence. First two goals involved first time strikes, by simms and grimes. Under Robins I was often frustrated by the unwillingness to do that. These are professional footballers, they train for this.

We look like Leeds last year and Ipswich in the cup. The lesser team competing hard but then being punished by clinical finishing

I don’t think there’ll be that much in it to be honest. Rushworth’s stats are slightly better but the margin is slight and overall, we’re much better team defensively this season compared to last.

Short memories in football, Dovin was a Top 5 keeper last season and his string of performances in our 9 wins in 10 run were important. We don’t make the playoffs without those performances.

Another incredible night and thankfully made good time getting home (unlike Pompey). Credit where it's due, Boro are a good team, head & shoulders above Stoke, but they lack a clinical striker.

Hard to be critical of our boys after a win like that but there were a few below par performances, but we weathered the onslaught in the 2nd half well before Frank made the changes which won us the game. Rudi & Allen were brilliant when they came on.

Interesting team selection for Saturday now, early signs is BTA is not as bad as first looked but expect him to be missing, Tatt's also looked out on his feet. 5 atb incoming ??

Can we all chip in and get Simms a dancing lesson or something, what was that muted chicken dance celebration.

but good to see him smile and try to celebrate

Some of our players looked exhausted! MVE and TATS in particular EMC was not expecting or prepared to come on either. Our goals kept the energy up.

Even though we battered them for most parts it did feel like men vs boys they were just so clinical in front of goal, someone described it like a lower league team up against a prem team in a cup competition and that what it felt like.

Our will to score goals/win games (not settle) at the moment is one of the things that’s separating us. Whether it’s still driving forward when taking the lead or both Torp ans kitching staying on their feet when fouled to help set up goals. We’re a great team to watch

They had used up their 1st half replay seconds on the 1st goal. No biggy.

This morning a Liverpool supporting mate at work was saying what a fantastic game of football it was for a neutral. He said how impressed he was with the way we win the ball high up and then flood the box within seconds

semantics. the basic point is right, i've posted similar elsewhere. It reminded me of playing Leeds in the league and Ipswich in the Cup last year. We were competitive; they got the goals

Incidentally. Drawing away from home against a top club late in the game and both our central defenders in their box! George Curtis would have had a thing or to say about that - old time centre halves got a nose bleed if they ventured over half way

No chance it was on the same level as Leeds. That would've been about a 6-0 drumming if it wasn't for Dovin.

As I said early possession doesn't really matter anymore, football in 2025 isn't about possession anymore. It's nice but teams are starting to ignore possession and look to create more chances even if that means letting the other team have the ball and then hit them with fast direct attacks. Having possession for the sake of having possession without really looking like scoring that many goal, what is the point ij that?

I think that to a certain extent teams have worked out how to play us, but it's not helping them at the moment. Opponents are hitting us with high energy and high press which makes it look like they are battering us at times in the game. But they can't keep it up for 90 minutes and once they fade badly we have the fitness and energy to punish them.

The key factor here, I believe, is belief. Aside from the elite level coaching our players have had for a year now, which of course, has shone through on the pitch.

There isn’t a collective dropping of heads if we screw up a 2 goal lead, there’s a desire and a belief that we can still win.

I’m still, however, keeping my head screwed firmly on at this stage. There’s a lot that can go better, and a lot that could potentially go tits up.

However, onwards and upwards. 🩵
