And what position would you have put him in?
He could have taken JDS off for starters who never got going (yes he has been very good in previous games). Or frankly take your pick, I'd personally have brought him on for Grimes but other than Onyeka who I feel did better than most have given him credit for, Mfuni couldn't have done any worse!
(tongue in cheek comment warning.... I'd have liked to see him have a go in goal, Rushworth had those gloves with a hole in them last night

)
I do think some get a bit hung up over the "label" stuck on a position. If you showed the heat map for a number of players here without posting their name or "position", it would genuinely open a few eyes. We needed more players to be brave on the ball yesterday and to get forwards with pace. The first 5 mins were great, Tats and MVE overlapping, all super encouraging. And then back to sitting deep, hoping a long ball might get some traction and almost zero down the flanks except for one great cross from EMC. Yerenkyi drove us up the pitch for the goal, and Rudi tried too, but Spurs were so much better at pushing on and Maddison showed how to control a game, he was everywhere.
I hate Robertson as an ex dipper but his energy and positivity is what we need to replicate. Mfuni appears to have real talent, is confident on the ball and good at driving forwards. We need that, even if he was at left back last night, it's hard to envisage how he wouldn't have improved on what we had on the pitch, only Pinnock, Thomas and arguably Cherif came out of the game with real credit for me.
