Didn't think the medical incident was dealt with particularly well yesterday in terms of general panic. Away end generally wasn't stewarded particularly well either - the nearest set of stairs to me was rammed and the first goal almost caused a crush as everyone fell on top of each other.

Interesting to read the various guidance on these incidents.

Was appalling. Stewards had no clue what was going on, paramedics didn’t even know there was an issue until people came down to get them.

One thing I heard a while back about stoppages from someone who works at a PL ground is that these days the medical staff working with teams and the additional medical staff brought in to assist them on match days are far more qualified and have more equipment with them.

This means there are instances where they are the best people in the ground to assist with a medical incident in the crowd but that requires the game to be suspended.

It Seemed to take ages for anyone to realise that there was an issue and then to get there to deal with it.

Me and this chap Ryan noticed straight away. We were in standing either side of him. We kept him standing until Kelly, City fan paramedic came. Then she asked us to support him to the ground. Ryan passed on our observations. It was more than this, all around played their part.

I was next to the guy that has the health concern. Two people, Ryan’s partner? and my Son went in opposite directions to alert the stewards pretty sharpish, Anyway, it seemed a good 3 minutes before Kelly came on the scene. there was a lot of help around this chap. The young guys behind were supporting him from falling as well. Not going into too much detail, but it became more concerning as time went on.

Were the stairs nearest the man also blocked?

I think there were several failings from the organisation/staff in the away end yesterday. Bristol should be investigating, imagine some witness statements would be needed.

looking out at the pitch. N38. Just to the left of the red camera box. 3 rows from the back. Probably about 16 seats in from the right aisle. The exit wasn’t blocked although the paramedic from Cov managed to take a direct route over the seats. I’m guessing she was mid N38? Alex Craig’s vlog gives a rough idea as I’m the bloke with the gloves on when we score!

Just checked with my son who informed stewards at the front…Yes, the aisles were blocked when he tried to get down there. He’s pretty determined and managed to get through. Not sure what the situation was when the Bristol paramedics came up to us.

It’s poor stewarding.

I was medical cover at the Etihad for a few years. In fairness - we had 3 doctors covering the stadium - and if guess Bristol only have one. However - the system should be well drilled and if the comms work - you can have paramedics/st John’s there in seconds and full medical team there in a minute or two.

It’s not hard to train the stewards to ask for help- if they need help.

if the comms work

Just thinking about this. I'm 99% None of the stewards near we I am have radios. On a rare occasion there's any trouble they go and find other stewards or security rather than radio for assistance

Most stewards won’t have comms - but a supervisor will have a radio.

At the Etihad - they had cameras on most things- so could get pictures & then supervisor audio. Very difficult to hear anything on the radio when it was noisy.

Arm waving from a steward should be enough to get things moving.
