So your answer to "Americanisms" is because the narrative was about going to Iraq. Are you one of these people that, when seeing a war film suddenly start talking in a American accent to the people in the room with you?

Deciding to bomb Iraq for oil is hardly the same thing as going to war with Germany who were marching into countries and dropping bombs on us!

A perfect illustration of how clueless the west is about the Middle East is Syria. The first time Cameron went to parliament for a vote on military action it was to remove Assad. Had he won that vote we'd have been fighting on the same side as ISIS!

Sky Blue Kid said:
Who do you think supplied most weapons to the Iraqi's and the Taliban?

Iraq's weapons were supplied by the west. We were the ones who put Saddam into power! We make the same mistake over and over again. Create a power vacuum and assume it will all work out.

The foundation of the Talibans weapons cache was created when the US were supplying them with weapons. These days its a mixture of sources. It used to be thought they were funding arms purchases via drug sales however are recently the evidence points to this being far from the case. It is now thought their weapons funding is coming from western governments and private companies vying for contracts to rebuild infrastructure. They then purchase from countries such as Iran, in recent years the bulk of their purchasing was from Russia however last year we removed the arms embargo so now supply them ourselves.

Similarly we sell to Saudi who then pass the weapons on to ISIS.

I really can't understand why so many people are anti-British atm. You moan about what we're doing to other Countries... Why don't you get off your PC arses and moan about what other countries are doing to Great Britain in our Country atm. WTF is the matter with you all? Too scared to be called racist? There's nothing racist about not wanting things like "Sharia Law" being forced on us, and having Cities where even the Police are too scared to enter. I quite like the words of the Canadian PM when he said We are a Christian Country that welcomes any Race, Creed, or Religion...., but don't forget this is Canada, and we have our own culture, we eat meat that other religions don't. Please don't force your customs onto the Canadian people. If you do try to do this, please feel free to leave our Country.

How on earth have you jumped from me saying we shouldn't enforce our idea of democracy on other countries to me supporting Sharia Law? In the same way we shouldn't force our way of life on them they shouldn't do it to us. Of course the big difference is that are democratically elected leaders are choosing to do it. With the likes of Sharia Law it is an extremist view not mandated by anything resembling a democratic process.

I 100% agree with Trudeau, I'm not sure how you get from a comment like that to believing it is OK to bomb other countries.

If these wars aren't about money and oil why aren't we getting involved in places like Somalia?

Agree with a lot of what you say Dave
Although Syria is even more complicated that that.
Surprisingly ISIS have been doing deals with Assad so we wouldn't have ended up in the same side as them if Cameron won his vote.
Assad sees the FSA as more of a danger to him than ISIS. So he has been letting ISIS move around with their weapons and leaking Intel to them.
We are involved in Somalia but Your point is correct there are other countries suffering from far more outrageous dictatorship behaviour that we turn a blind eye to because it suits.

Anyway back to the bloody court case where's the bloody result ............

No I don't need to put FACT at the end of my posts because I'm not 12.

What is the similarity between a democratically elected government electing to go to war with a foreign country with a view to enforcing their preferred version of democracy and unelected extremists with no mandate or legal right with which to enforce their version of justice?

I absolutely agree more could and should be done to ensure Sharia Law is not being practiced in the UK. Funnily enough that would be done under European Law.

There is a minority in the country that want sharia law imposed. The media highlight this, people then believe it's happening everywhere and we will soon be under sharia law. I have mentioned before that there is bad people and good people. This has and will always be the case. I have also mentioned about people being divided. You ignored me mentioning good and bad people. You had no answer as to why people are divided. We now live in a world where everyone has to have a label. It's ridiculous.

If the Iraq war was not about money and oil, what was it about? George Bush finishing the job his dad started? We were told it was about WMD yet there was never any found.

Personally I'm thankful that there are reasoned people still out there that don't buy into the mass hysteria the mainstream media create. The world would be a far more volatile place if there was more people buying it.

Out of curiosity how many people know of a Muslim who wants sharia law imposed in this country? Or are we to believe everything the media say? Rather than going by what we see and hear ourselves.

@ chiefdave....
In recent years, the Iranian government states that it has self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.[SUP][1][/SUP]
Tehran established an arms development program during the Iran-Iraq war to counter the weapons embargo imposed on it by the US and its Western allies. Since 1992, Iran has manufactured its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radars, boats, submarines, unmanned aerial vehicles, and fighter planes.[

Doesn't seem like they buy from the West to me mate?

This is a quote 2003.

This war will not put an end to anti-Americanism; it will fan the flames of hatred even higher. It will not end the threat of weapons of mass destruction; it will make possible their further proliferation. And it will not lay the groundwork for the flourishing of democracy throughout the Mideast; it will harden the resolve of Arab states to drive out all Western influence.

If you thought Osama bin Laden was bad, just wait until the countless children who become orphaned by Western bombs in the coming weeks are all grown up. Do you think they will forget who dropped the bombs that killed their parents? In 10 or 15 years, we will look back fondly on the days when there were only a few thousand Middle Easterners dedicated to destroying the west and willing to die for the fundamentalist cause. From this war, a million bin Ladens will bloom.

So you know how many?

A documentary by Stacey Dooley investigating certain sections of the muslim community who want sharia law imposed does not back up what you are saying. I have said there is a small minority. I personally have never come across a muslim who is an extremist or wants sharia law imposed. Now, have you?

You need to dig a little deeper. You only have to look at photos of their arms caches to see the markings of the west and that was before the sanctions were lifted.

Iran would be able to supply weapons to its allies in the region with the full blessing of the international community, because the nuclear deal being prepared in Vienna includes partial lifting of arms trade sanctions, a source close to the talks said.

“The agreement states that the Iranians will continue supplying defensive weapons to its regional allies to fight against terrorism and extremism,” a source in the Iranian delegation told RIA Novosti.

The UN Security Council passed a number of sanctions against Tehran over its controversial nuclear program, including those restricting its arms trade. Iran andP5+1 group (the US, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany)are finalizing a comprehensive deal that would lift those sanctions as well as those imposed by individual nations in exchange for scaling down the program and making it more transparent.

According to the publisher, Not the Chilcot Report is a “concise summary of what should be in the Chilcot Report”. The publisher added: “Peter Oborne shows how the British government colluded in deceiving the public, grossly exaggerating the threat from Saddam Hussein. The book will prove that Tony Blair repeatedly misled the British people in his determination to stand with America at all costs.”
The publisher continued: “The invasion of Iraq was ‘the defining calamity of the post-cold war era’, in Peter Oborne’s words. It has led to the collapse of the state system in the Middle East. Iraq is shattered, Syria may never be put back together again. And the great wave of refugees unleashed by this breakdown is threatening what is left of democracy in Turkey and the very existence of the European Union.
“Oborne provides a forensic examination of the way evidence was doctored and the law manipulated in order to justify a war for regime change. The government bent facts to fit its determination to go to war, Parliament failed to scrutinise wild allegations, the intelligence service was perverted, and the media lost its head.”
Oborne said: “I hope that this short book, which is based very largely on evidence publicly presented to the Inquiry, will assist lay readers who want to make sense of Chilcot. It stretches to 35,000 carefully written words. The Iraq Inquiry by contrast is a reported 2 million words long – which is approximately four times the length of War and Peace.”

It is about money oil and infrastructure, otherwise explain why we all watched the
extermination of upto 5 million children women and men in Rwanda on the news
every night. A genocide on a scale with the holocaust, but ignored by governments
around the world, and now largely erased from human history.

My opinion is the same as the time going back to when I made a thread about 3 weeks after the JR was listened too by the Judges?............ "When is the findings going to be released" and "If the ruling is against the CCC, then the people of Coventry will be the ones picking up the tab" (A Americanism for you)

So by your train of thought, can't the same be said of the millions killed by mass Genocide by Saddam Hussein in Iraq? Do you want Britain to be the "Superman" of World Holocausts, and come to the rescue of literally every disgusting act performed by third world leaders? whilst you bring this up.... Not ONE neighbouring Country to SYRIA opened their borders to help the refugees. It was left to Greece,Italy, Germany, and eventually the UK to help.
