=oldskyblue58;40622] be honest did anyone sit and say against Reading as we played the ball around well against a top team, "if only we had McSheffery"
Yes, that's exactly what I think. I was chatting to my mate about it as we left the Reading and Scunthorpe games. If we'd had that little bit more movement, flair and creativity that he'd have provided, yes, it would have made a huge difference, in our opinions.
I do think he suits that position particularly well-it's where he was at his best at Brum. Bell can do it but offers less goal threat-he's perhaps better in the LCM role.
As I said before, throughout the majority of the season I thought he was one of our better players, by far. Creativity and a goal threat, even when out of position. He was actually top goalscorer in the 1st 3rd of the campaign, including great strikes against Cardiff and Leeds.
Sammy-superb of late but Aidy p'd on his chips and put Doyle ahead of him. He was poor until Thorn came in. Since then? Our best player.
Cranie-some defensive errors leading to goals. I like him, but can't believe the praise he's had on here. He's a bit slow and lightweight, has the odd lapse in concentration, but is a great ballplayer at the back. A clever-mans Elliott Ward?
Keogh-Love him, real grafter, has got better as the seasons gone on. But gets skinned a bit too often at RB for my liking. Possibly better at CB? He has played there more in his career...
Turner-Awesome, a shoe-in for Player of the Year if he hadn't got injured. His goal against Leeds was possibly my seasons highlight.
King-Quality, espescially under Thorn. But the red cards count against him.
Lukas-Love the effort, great potential, will be a real threat next season, but too much of a lean spell early on and fades after 60 mins.
Freddy-If he'd have stayed in the team and been well man-managed I reckon he could have bagged 15+ goals. But the Aidy preference to Platt knocked him for six and he just doesn't try any more. Real shame, at times he's looked like the goalscorer he can be. But my patience is fading.
Hussey-very good, may be a contender if he plays all next season like he has his past 8 games.
Bell-as above.
Clarke-ditto!
Westwood-usually at least one great save a game. We'll realise how good when he's gone. But not his best year with us, beaten by some weak long-range shots that Prem 'keepers usually snaffle with ease.
