It just annoyed me a bit in the way that other clubs took Christie from under our nose when he was at Nuneaton. And I can see Blyth from Leamington doing the same. I think it was Leicester and Birmingham who are looking at him.
James would have been free, hardly any wages, and a LB who would have been cheap backup for Hussey (and better than none!). I trust that's about all the budget SISU are stretching to, so we do need to be sharper in terms of local talent. The gap between the pro and semi-pro game is getting smaller all the time, as the likes of Steve Morrison, Simeon Jackson & Michael Kightly illustrate well.
Tyrone Barnett at Peterboro was leading the line for Hednesford a couple of seasons ago-reports even at that level labelled him as a raw and physical player.
Now he's a 1m+ player. He's not local, but his strike partner Paul Taylor is another great signing: dunno if it's Fry who does the scouting for them still, but if it is, he's a ruddy genius. If SISU want to make money,
this is the time-honoured way of doing it for a club of our size!
