Good bit in the FLP today by McSheff. Stating claims that beleaguered boss Andy T's eye for talent has given us every chance of escape from relegation.
I only think it's a hard copy thing. Worth the £1.50, I get it every now and then. Loads of stuff and full match reports on all the League. Nothing on the Premiership either, which is a bonus.
I'm still available for that Scout role if SISU want a few pointers on who we can sign for free on under 2 grand a week but who could "do a job" for us. Start by snapping up the lad at Brakes before one of the richer local clubs does. It still annoys me that Watford signed Tom James when we should have been first on the scene
It just annoyed me a bit in the way that other clubs took Christie from under our nose when he was at Nuneaton. And I can see Blyth from Leamington doing the same. I think it was Leicester and Birmingham who are looking at him.
James would have been free, hardly any wages, and a LB who would have been cheap backup for Hussey (and better than none!). I trust that's about all the budget SISU are stretching to, so we do need to be sharper in terms of local talent. The gap between the pro and semi-pro game is getting smaller all the time, as the likes of Steve Morrison, Simeon Jackson & Michael Kightly illustrate well.
Tyrone Barnett at Peterboro was leading the line for Hednesford a couple of seasons ago-reports even at that level labelled him as a raw and physical player. Now he's a 1m+ player. He's not local, but his strike partner Paul Taylor is another great signing: dunno if it's Fry who does the scouting for them still, but if it is, he's a ruddy genius. If SISU want to make money, this is the time-honoured way of doing it for a club of our size!
