He’s showing some good form atm, and I think his first season has been a big transition for him, from part-timer to professional and non-league to L2, hopefully he can hit 10 league goals at least next season.

Same with JCH, I think if we’re to sign a striker for next season, will probably be a lump to ring off the bench. If we keep McNulty, having a supporting cast of Biamou, JCH and JP, I think, covers most bases.

Was thinking this morning I wonder if MR will go in for Tom Pope again or a striker of similar experience and qualities. We’ve all seen the damage a striker of that mound like Rhead, Akinfenwa can do and different approach it brings.

With that in mind it covers all compliments of striking options then.

Naturally we would and do need wingers also

That’s a good shout, I’m also hoping that, if we fail to get promoted, that we sign Akinfenwa. The last club he got promoted with didn’t renew his contract — I’m hoping Wycombe do the same. However, I imagine the possibility of that is very low.

I think we need a few wingers, that’s the main priority. The rest is mainly fine tuning the squad, and replacing any potential departures.

Agree with the comments about Biamou and McNulty. I just think it’s a better partnership and brings out the best in McNulty. For all the morning about Biamou by some fans on here I think he’s been quality since the turn of the year and always works his arse off. Great goal yesterday (and his two screamers were as good as you’ll see at this level).

I had my doubts about mcnulty...mainly his lack of pace. His work especially alongside biamou is first class and he finds space where there isn’t any. His finishing has just got better and better as the season progressed. If we go up I still think his lack of pace might be his undoing at the higher level

To think McNulty was only going to ever be a penalty spot expert

Must admit, after his dry spell, I did worry where our goals were going to come from if our main striker couldn't hit a barn door, but he's proven that he is a quality striker in this division!

I disagree, pace isn’t an important facet of his game. Good ball control and great mid range shot are some of his best attributes. If anything, he’d have less space the higher up the footballing pyramid we/he goes.

In any case, he’s definitely not slow by any stretch of the imagination, to me, he looks reasonably quick.

I like Biamou and think he is still improving. Whatever league we are in next season l think it would still be taking a chance if he is to start each week alongside McNulty. That said, he is scoring goals now.
I think the big question mark is over JCH. I am not sure he is the answer. Have we already agreed to take him? If not I would think that there are better options out there.

I dont think its a coincidence Mcnulty started scoring after we lost Jones. We were very one dimensional with Jones and looked to give it to him at every opportunity often ignoring the runs of Mcnulty. However he also started scoring when Bayliss came into the team which was another big factor. Would love to see Bayliss, Jones and Mcnulty playing together next season however I very much doubt that will happen.

Why? In 15 games he's been involved in 8 goals, 3 goals (the stats don't accredit him with the Crewe goal) and 5 assists, compared to Biamou who's on 4 goals and 4 assists over 37 games. In reality, most of Biamou's production has come in the last 10 or so games.

When people were slating Biamou, I said goals aren't the only metric you should judge a striker by and the same applies to JCH. I personally think JCH is better than Biamou, he also has more potential, and I think over a full season he'll get 10-15 league goals. I like what he brings to the team, even if he is a bit feisty at times.

If we're comparing the two fairly, on the whole, JCH has been the better of the two and this is JCH's first season back after a nasty injury, so I think he'll undoubtedly improve next season. Irrespective of the league we're in.

Sparky has turned his season around since December. And contrary to other opinions, I'm still a believer that he's our current Micky Quinn to Biamou's Robert Rosario. A great pairing and one that seems to give McNulty space (and belief??) to do what he's got the obvious skill to accomplish.

McNulty scores a hat trick and goals against Stevenage with Clarke Harris in the team. It’s absurd to credit Biamou with McNulty achievements. It’s offensive really. He’s had to create and work opportunities himself with an awful strike partner.

Rosario was shite and rightly voted one of Nottingham Forests worst players after he left us. The analogy is incorrect anyway as Rosario ended up in midfield under Gould when oddly some fans started to like him.

If we keep McNulty, Biamou and Ponticelli next season, I doubt we can bring in JCH and a.n.other first team striker. If those 3 stay it will be JCH or someone else. Personally, I think there's better out there than JCH.

Is agree re: JCH. If peooe don't rate Biamou, JCH hasn't done imo to warrant paying a fee for him. There are better options out there, especially if we get promoted.

I disagree, because if that was the case, Nazon wouldn't have been scoring either. Jones was our top of our assists column too, he really was creating a lot of goals. Games such as Chesterfield away he shown glimpses of what was to come, but things just didn't come off for him, we know he played a few games with injury and we also know he thanked Robins for sticking with him despite the lack of form. I think it's a coincidence he started to hit form after Jones got injured. A team with Bayliss, Jones and McNulty in it is definitely something I'd like to see before one of them inevitably goes onto to bigger and better things, hopefully dragging us up in the process.

We've already paid a fee for JCH, allegedly, we paid 125k as a 'loan fee'. I think his loan is a formality and will be made permanent in the summer. Otherwise, it's a total waste of money.

No I don’t think so - it’s an advanced payment to get around FFP regs

In that case unless one of our strikers leave, we won't be signing another in the summer.

Plenty of teams pay loan fees, if we don't sign him but get promoted it will won't have been a waste of money.

Fair point but i'd argue Nazon was a lot more capable of moments of brilliance with goals such as Swindon away and Cambridge away off the top of my head. Jones did seem to link up alot better with Nazon than Mcnulty but this may simply have been Mcnulty's bad form. If you think we could have Bayliss, Jones, Mcnulty and Andreu as well it could be brilliant and if we could just sneak up this year we'd have a more than decent chance of finishing top 6 in league one providing of course we dont cash in on them and they stay fit.

Biamou is likable, he has something about him whereas JCH is gangsta and I can't warm to him at all.
For me Robins has to decide on mediocre v mediocre but I hope he chooses someone higher up the food chain than either of them if we go up.
McNulty will go if we are in league two and Ponti should be a straight replacement with Jones providing the fantasy and hopefully Andreu proving he is, what so many on here believe, a decent player.
It would interesting to see if our strikers were better suited to league one than league two.

I don’t get this McNulty will be off if we stay L2 theory.
He will only be off if the price of a 23 league goals man price tag is met. Only a top 10 L1 side or SPL club could come close to having the funds.

There have been flashes of decent play from JCH, his lay off for Bayliss on Tuesday for example. For me he doesn’t do it often enough. There are times when he seems to be having very little effect on games. For such a big man, I don’t think he wins enough in the air. Again for such a big man he goes down far too easily, often it seems looking for free kicks which most of the time he doesn’t get. It could be that he is still finding his way back after injury and that there is more to come. If we had £160k or whatever the fee was/is to spend, I think it could be used more wisely. If he stays I hope that I am wrong and that he proves to be an inspirational signing. I just don’t see it at the moment.

For me, Biamou is improving all of the time. At the moment I think he has a greater impact on games than JCH, particularly since the goals have started to come. It has taken him a while to find his feet in league football (even though there were instances in his early games that showed he could be a good player). I don’t think we could afford to wait for him again next season if we are promoted and he has to adjust to a new level, He is however, worth keeping as I think, if he keeps progressing and improving that there is more to come from him.

Really pleased for him. Runs rings around most league two players. Has a cracking penalty technique as well! Can't see us holding onto him if we don't go up... but we can hope!

A goal every 188 minutes since Christmas. I'm not sure what the league average for strikers is but I'd imagine that's probably average to above average. Obviously he wasn't great in the first half of the season but he has improved and is a valuable squad player at this point.
