Has been made available for loan by Newcastle and many Championship clubs have offered, would we like to see him here?

Beg to differ midfield is the priority in my opinion. Maatsen is more than capable at LWB have Eccles out until Christmas and Kelly still out. We have two loan spots left think we should keep one until the January window.

Kelly will be as good as back after the International break. Fit enough for the bench.

What happens if Maatsen gets injured, suspended, or loses form?

We have Kelly, and Eccles as defensive midfielders, and Shipley, Jones and Bright as attacking midfield cover, and Allen has been a big bonus now that he's found his boots again, so that 6 midfielders options we have sat on the bench if needed, not to mention those in the U23 squad.
Why do we need to give experience to some other clubs player?

We need cover at CH and LWB and we need to off load Pask, Hilsner and Jobello.

Newcastle would expect him to be starting which means you would have to drop one of Hamer or Sheaf to accommodate him. If we are to recruit in midfield it needs to be an AM. The defence needs more help IMO

If we had the millions premier clubs have we can have two top players for each position but we haven’t. So we have to use options, players not in their preferred positions, juggle the squad a bit we have the likes of Josh Reid developing other youngsters in the pipe line. Just have to keep fingers crossed we are lucky with injuries

We could keep our fingers crossed or we could recruit someone to plug the glaring gaps, it doesnt have to cost big money, the loan market is there for us to use.

A LWB as cover would be a priority, Reid appears to be struggling at u23 level, so is not ready to be cover in the first team.

As I've said we need to find takers for Pask, Hilsner and Jobello to free up wages.
Pask should be able to find a suiter in league 1 at least and he needs to be playing regularly to further his career.

Defence is a priority still, been leaking good chances all season, Moore being in great form and poor finishing means we've survived it so far.

Definitely need more cover in midfield though, am I correct in thinking both O'Hare and Hamer have been booked every game so far and Sheaf is only one behind?

Am I missing one of the loans?

We have 3 spots left don't we? Only have Maatsen and Clarke-Salter.

Everybody agrees Maatsen is good, but he's 19 so will suffer a dip. He's already had 3 bookings so is likely going to end up suspended, and given there are another 40+ games this season that's a lot of hope he doesn't get injured.

In comparison even if sheaf/Hamer miss a couple games, Kelly will be back in September and Eccles around November/December. Then you still have Allen, and Howley who seems further ahead in his development than Reid or at least Robins believes so. So the reality is we can probably take the hit in midfield a lot easier than we could at LWB.

I think cover for the Lwb is essential. Maatsen will be first choice, but he's only 19. I don't think we can reasonably assume he can play ever game of the season. To assume that we would also have to assume no injuries or suspensions. I don't think we have anyone else who is comfortable playing there at the moment. Da Costa still has a lot of work to do on his positioning etc, so I would not want to play him there at the moment. We've looked unsettled enough having to play Dabo at CB, I really don't want us to put Shipley or Jones there!

Decent player but not a priority position right now.

Also everytime I seen his name I think it's a guy playing under his pornstar moniker,

Hyam I think

Think he's only had one period out injured in his time with us overall hasn't he? And that was only when he was in a car accident. Hyam is remarkably sturdy.

But to be fair I think most admit that his form dipped and he needed taking out last season but we couldn't due to injuries/ to rose and pask constantly meaning they were never truly fit.

Yes I agree with this, a loan player would be expected to play regularly by his club, so who would we drop? Allen on the bench and coming on when the opposition get tired is working at the moment

Strange, it was everybody's main concern a couple of weeks ago....

Not for me because I saw Allen and Shipley as squad players and not in the bomb squad.

Not convinced Bright will come good so in an ideal world an AM would be nice.

But I am convinced we only have the budget for one the come in (unless two or three go out).

So for me priority is defence.

I mentioned Matty Lonstaff in another thread a few weeks back, at that time he would have been a useful addition to the squad as Allen was deadwood and we needed midfield reinforcements, however this is no longer the case so the budget will be better used elsewhere.
