I don’t think it’s a coincidence that since he’s come into the team we’ve gone up a level.
Said the other week he’s the best player we’ve signed for years. I get the argument of gyokeres or Hamer but Grimes is the engine of the team. Everything we do goes through him just a proper proper player who’s never below a 7/10.
This was just after we drew 0-0 at home to Hull, where we faced a defensive team with a low block. Granted it was the opening game so rustiness was at play but he was too deep for me which also left a gaping hole in the middle. It also meant he tried to start attacking plays too far back.
Whilst he still drops deep, I also think he gets forward more too and with the alignment of the formation, it works. It didn’t then.
